Okay...I'm gonna give my 2 cents again about the "reasons" I started this club!!!

For the comment about "hearing the same shit over and over again"...That is the very thing I don't want. The reasons that those years (as stated in the club) are sooo important are because EVERYTHING I heard was different...one album after another...ever changing...going on this journey with Prince...thru his ups and downs...thru his life. (by the way..I hate Raspberry Beret..)

Another thing...The club (for me) is a way to be fucking PROUD of being a "FAN"...like I used to be...I have been a fan since I was NINE...(yes, since 1979) although, being too young to truly understand everything that he was trying to express at that time, I still found it cool. Getting older and finally understanding his ever-changing style, his music and his personal lyrics...it became something I couldn't escape. (my folks thought I was nuts...but who doesn't think their kids/teenagers are a bit crazy)

I've already expressed my feelings about his music for the past 9 years...so I won't bore you guys with that again. (if infact..anyone is reading this)

There has been NOTHING new about the music he's put out as of late. NOTHING.
I watched the interview he did with Tavis and he said something to the effect of "cussing isn't cool anymore..he did it back then because hardly anyone was doing it"..point taken. I don't need Prince to cuss...dress weird...or become a hermit again. What I do want....(who am I?) is Prince to start making music that MOVES the fuck outta me again. I don't care if he doesn't have a video to put on MTV...I don't care if he gets a radio hit. That has never been the important factor in my FANDOM. Infact..back in the day...the B-sides were the ones that I played more and more...the ones without radio play or a video to go along with it.

I have every single album Prince has ever done...so why is it that from Emancipation onwards...those albums are collecting dust?!?! Did MY TASTE CHANGE? No..my taste is still the same. Prince changed...so be it. But I'm not gonna be a "FAM" if I don't dig every single piece of music he's ever done. Shit..there are some old songs I can't stand. That has never been the point. Why are the "newbies" getting interested in Prince?! Because of the NEW MUSIC?!?! Nooooo. Because they have friends/family members that have the OLD music. Then...they get all the albums...and decide for themselves what kind of FAN/FAM they wanna be.

Why did Prince play "PurpleRain, LGC and Baby I'm a star" at the Grammys?! He was nominated for a Grammy for his JAZZ work....wouldn't you think he would've performed something from NEWS!? That's what most ppl do on that show..don't they..play something that they are nominated for? Why didn't he?!... (answer that question...and really think of the answer)

I don't want the 80's to come back...let me say that. I want that FEELING back from his music.
Prince came to Holland last year...did I go? No...because I don't want to hear the same old "Greatest Hits" crap again...year after year its the same...why?!

I just found it important to get this off my chest...incase it was unclear If you don't agree..then fine...no loss. But don't write off the "old faNs" because we are the ones that started this whole thing. We might bitch and complain about where Prince is now musically...but that's our opinion...everyone should have one...and be original in their thinking.

Let's just use a little more common sense when posting things to each other...with a sense of humour...we all realize there are gonna be differences. Let's just agree to disagree.

Never 4get THE one crucial thing tho that being a Prince fan entails Jacqui: u NEVER know what he's gonna do next...that's what's kept me hangin' out - cuz I KNOW He's still got it in him. Those halycon days maybe gone now, but u never, ever know...that's part of the journey, part of the experience.
