Prince NOT in UK top 50 bigest selling single artists Prince did NOT figure in this list? Number fifty had sold about 4.5 million singles. Surely Prince topped this? Maybe a number person could shed some light on this for me. This is for total single sales.
Sir Cliff was 1st with over 20 mil Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

Sir Cliff was 1st with over 20 mil i thought beatles had 20 million too, only cliff beat them by about 500k! but then again beatles recorded for 7 years, cliff for 50! ha! as for prince, did it really surprise you? sure he's had 40 top 40 hits here, but still. one number one, several top tens. i would have thought he would have about 2 million single sales MAX.i dont knwo for sure though, i could put up all his single positions in the UK up to 1999 (thus all of them really!) but it wouldnt shed much on the sales!

I wasn't "surprised" no, but the people who featured seemed to be those who have had a steady streem of hits rather than a run of number ones. Factoring in the decline of single sales it was good to see the shit of today relegated to the top 30 and 40. And then the other nobodies making the list becasue of a one hit smash. I just wondered how far off the bottom of the list Prince would be. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!
