Musicology...this album info is tight lipped!

I felt this feeling going through another thread about musicology. Somebody likened the feeling to an older Prince release(namely, pre-internet) where U didn't know everything about the album before you bought. Usually I'm angry when I don't know the track listing of a new album. When Gold was coming out, I had just gotten my compuserve service(remember them smile ). I read a review of the album and an early track listing before it came out on an faq site and was drooling like Homer simpson eating a stick of butter wrapped in a caramel waffel over what I was imagining Gold(the song) was going to sound like. It was compared to Purple Rain but better(which I secretly agree...please don't shoot me. Purple Rain is just so old...Great, but old). I was told it was the 90's new anthem. I have a friend who hates Prince but loves that one song.
Being left in the dark here with this album is something I am appreciating. I am kind of dissapointed I saw the Musicology video on Tavis or that I heard Reflection as well. It's somewhat acceptable though for it is simply normal promotion. I can't wait till the album drops and I don't want to find out too much more about it. I want that special feeling I got with alot of the early Prince albums I bought in the mid-90's when I first became a Prince fan. I wouldn't know too much about the albums. It was a magical moment when I got in my car and put it in my CD walkman and had songs like temptation and bambi and Paisley Park(all non single trax if U notice...I had the Hits and the B-sides early, just not the albums) pumping through the 2 fifteens I had sitting in the back of a gold toned 85 VW Golf. I liken it to a exceptional virgin experience. Always gotta love that first crack. OOOOOHHHHH I can't wait!!!!!

Lemme know how U people feel about this situation. Enquiring minds wanna know.

And of course all of this is a lie if someone has a copy of the whole album and can fed-ex it to me tomorrow. That way mayber I can writhe an equivilant review of the one I read about Gold. Seriously...if U have a copy...org note me lol

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I had the same experience with Prince's early albums during the 90s....I'd love to relive that excitment

I also agree with the above! I was slightly disappointed when TGE came out, becuase he publicly performed just about every track before it's release, so when i bought it and listened, there was no surprises on it (in fact I bacame pissed off when I came to realise he dropped Dayz Of Wild of the album).

On the other hand, Prince HAS to handle the promotion differently for this next release if he wants to do a mainstream come back. He's taken himself too underground for his fan base for him to do just a few appearances here and there, so we are going to accept this style of promotion.

Bring it on!

I'm going out of my fucking mind wondering what the album will sound like...and I LOVE that.

You're right, whatever he's managed to create with this album, he's definitely gone to great lengths to keep it a secret for now.

I agree, It feels like Graffiti Bridge all over again. I just hope the dissapointment isn't the same. But with "Musicology", "Reflection", "What Do You Want Me to Do" and "You Want Me" as possible inclusions then the album should be great.

Excitement mounting
