Some1 asked 4 the best Prince TV perfomance...what about the worst?!?!?

While crusing around the board, some1 posted a question about the best Prince performace on TV. I had an idea of my response but after watching the tape I had of it I quickly changed my mind!! Does any1 remember when Prince did Soul Train back in 1994? He "played" songs from his not yet released album. He did "live" versions of Now, Acknowlege Me & Love Sign. I remember back in the day loving this perfomance!! Don't get me wrong, the songs I LOVE. But watching the perfomance was HORRIBLE!!! 10 years later, it seems so dated. It really seemed like he wasn't even having fun.

This is my least favorite TV performance...what's yours?

I never liked the live versions of TGRES. Following the release of the single and Rave, he performed it a couple of times at talk shows (the one that comes to mind now is his appearance on the Dutch television show with Ivo Niehe).

It was I think lip-synchronised and the music was also from tape, and I just find the song so boring and interesting... He also didn't look interested himself...

Yup, this is my choice.

hands down that horrible think he did on david letterman, with the gold experience, the thing about dying and all. stupid and mindless. it was just bad.

I think the performances on Oprah were probably the worst I've seen, though that's probably not a very fair choice, considering what his state of mind must have been like at the time.

yup

definately those TGRES performances in europe

i've only seen the ones out of germany, but it sounds like it

was the same in most countries here

i did, however, like his performance on the Herold Schmidt Show.

i think it was towards the end of his promo stint over here.

he played "Baby Knows" LIVE, as opposed to that playback crap above

Do u mean when he sang "Dolphin"? That was bad. I am kind of glad I missed the Rave Euro stuff, sounds bad.

Oh, I thought of another. I hated when he was on Arsenio Hall with the gun mic to promote Symbol, his performance just seemed so violent and angry.

He was being interviewd on British T.V, he had his face completely covered with a red scarf and would only answer questions by whispering to Mayte and she would relay the answer.

I liked this performance too - Mayte and her stupid angel wings and twirly baton thingies were annoying, but I loved the whole stunt at the end with him dying and getting carried off stage. It was ridiculous and over the top and pretentious, but well...it's a bit like entertainment, isn't it? wink

My least favorite was probably when he performed "The Most Beautiful Girl..." on that retarded World Music Awards in 94. Not only was the (lip-synced) performance bad but that outfit he had on was one of the fugliest things I've ever seen.

When he sang the most Beautiful gitw on the world music awards.

It was shown in the UK and the sound was out to the performance so it looked like a very, very bad mime. It was so bad I taped over it as it was just to bad to watch again! Spoilt the whole show.

The WORST was...

VIBE (tv show) Prince was just off.. his pacing of the song. Plus the whole Larry, Chaka & Prince hour was pretty lame too

Performing 'Emancipation' at the Brit Awards. The whole performance was a bit of a flop really. The song far a start isn't great yet he also appeared nervous and gave the impression of trying too hard. Matters were made worse by Ben Elton's continuous mocking of Prince being referred to as 'The Artist'.
