MUSICOLGY IN UK STORES??

I just phoned 2 record stores in the Uk and they both said that they will not be getting the new cd saying that its gonna be a NPGMC release only.

This is not a good way to start a comeback if this is true??

I seriously doubt that...he'll probably give the FAMS at NPGMC first dibs of course...then he'll release it...esp if the "rumour" of him re-signing with WB is true.

He even said one of the reasons he did the grammys was because he has a new album and tour coming...it wouldn't make much sense to just release it on the club.

There's no way he'd be doing all these promotional appearances if he wasn't intending on his album being available in stores.

Well just wait for the press conference Tuesday. Who knows, they might have him on their computer after that... wink

The release date 4 Musicology on March 29th is a worldwide release not a NPGMC release!!

I'm wondering if you can only get a CD by going to his shows, since March 29th is the opening date of the tour. Could be a novel approach to get copies of his new music to everyone who's going to hear the old hits.

Of course, I think it would be more than a little ridiculous to do it this way, too. Just not sure what the deal is with the date and what the Penn State CD giveaway is (perhaps another album, which is ticket-only?).

The last time any record store had advance information on a new Prince album was 1991. I very much doubt this is true. I doubt they even know the club or Musicology even exist.

P is such a marketing manager, he'll probably release it on vinyl only.

Way to go woot!

That's not the release date for the album, that's the "official" launch date for the tour (never mind there is at least one tour date before the 29th). Just wait until tuesday and we'll find out the real info.

UK music stores are forever updating their lists.

i've been in countless times and not seen any prince release down when i damn well knew it was coming shortly.

Record Stores only know what the record companies tell them.

Their computer databases are updated daily with information supplied directly from the various
distributors. The major labels have most of their release schedules planned out well in advance
so a new album by Madonna or Justin Timberlake will be on their databases months in advance.
But some artists and some of the minor labels do things at short notice so they may only appear
on their systems a few weeks or sometimes days in advance. Also, entries are not usually
included on their databases until the distributor has confirmed the catalogue number and bar
code.
