The hall of fame: PRINCE 2 be presented by.....

.....both Outkast and Alicia Keys.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place in New York on March 15 and will be broadcast March 21 on VH1 at 8 p.m.

When Prince, ZZ Top and Jackson Browne are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, they won't have to look far to see contemporary stars their music has influenced.

Outkast, Kid Rock, Alicia Keys and Dave Matthews are among

those who'll pay tribute to their mentors by inducting this year's class, organizers announced Thursday (February 19).

At the ceremony, inductees are presented by special guests who typically will say a few words and also perform a song from that artist. For the 2004 ceremony, Prince will be presented by both Outkast and Keys. Late Beatles guitarist George Harrison will be inducted by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne.

Kid Rock will present Bob Seger, while Dave Matthews will announce Traffic's arrival in the hall. Finally, Bruce Springsteen and Rolling Stones icon Keith Richards will induct Jackson Browne and ZZ Top, respectively.

I think OutKast is a good choice, but Alicia Keys?
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

Great find, Andy! wave

I'm not sure Outkast and Alicia (especially after her destruction on Kiss) are the best peeps to introduce him, but I'd love to hear Andre say something nice about Prince since he is so mainstream it's a good public awareness boost.

Alicia's a real fan of P. She's done (at least) 3 covers of his songs, 2 of them fairly obscure (Shhh & HCUDCM). Who else could it be???!!! And she was at the 'celly, right? I think it's a great choice - he's clearly been a massive influence on her.

I think they are the right choices. Both respected in the industry today. Most of the kids are not aware that the songs Alicia has covered are even Prince tunes. She relays respect all the way, is very talented own her own accord. I didn't think of her before, but I'm happy with the choices.

I'm happy with this. Both were genuinely influenced by Prince, and both seem like true fans.
