MTV.com: OutKast and Alicia Keyes to induct Prince into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? http://www.mtv.com/news/a...lines=true
Outkast, Kid Rock, Alicia Keys To Induct Rock Hall Members When Prince, ZZ Top and Jackson Browne are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, they won't have to look far to see contemporary stars their music influenced. Outkast, Kid Rock, Alicia Keys and Dave Matthews are among those who'll pay tribute to their musical mentors by inducting this year's class, organizers announced Thursday (February 19). The 2004 inductees also include the late Beatles guitarist George Harrison, the Dells, Bob Seger and Traffic. Other presenters include Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Bruce Springsteen and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony takes place in New York on March 15 and will be broadcast on VH1 March 21 at 8 p.m. EST. Exactly which artist will announce which inductee wasn't indicated. A ceremony spokesperson said the hall of fame wanted to add an element of surprise to the event. However, Outkast — especially Andre 3000 — haven't been shy about their love of Prince's psychedelic funk. And ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons sang backing vocals on "Hillbilly Stomp" from Kid Rock's recent self-titled CD. —Joseph Patel The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

That's great, in my opinion. They are both 'hip' and still a little 'alternative' black acts with mainstream succes, just like Prince in the 80's. Obviously Prince's new record company is trying to "hip" Prince again by associating Prince with the 'cool' acts of today and uses the big yearly musicbizz events (Grammy's and RnR Hall of Fame) to Put Prince in the spotlights again.
I really think 2004 might become a great year for Prince and his music. Although I don't mind Prince being an indie artist, I think his music is still good enough to be heard by a broad audience. I hope "Musicology" will be a great album! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
