NPGLOVER said: if it isnt already. It is out of print. People are going to be looking for it and the chance of it coming back is small since it is 3 CDs. When real music lovers go back and dig into the catalog, they will revisit the many overlooked gems on this album. Then people will realize that it just isnt sitting on the shelves with Purple Rain in the record stores. I bought an extra a few weeks ago at a FYE store for $5 and kept it unopened. If you love Prince, you love this album.

He can't or never will please people again like he did with those mythical years in the eighties when he was established as the top pop artist of the time. I think he's given up on that. But I am always baffled when people point to a specific album and complain, they give no details on why they don't like it. I've heard his covers weren't good. What was wrong with Betcha by Golly? People are not specific in their criticisms other than to say they like/don't like, which is fine for themselves but doesn't do anything for making other people understand why they don't like a particular Prince release. I would put emancipation in his top 3 maybe.

I would put emancipation in his top 3 maybe. I think Emancipation is very good in places, and there's a bit of duff in there too. Betcha by golly wow is a bit lame for me. By the way, it is also possible to just not feel a tune, you know? It's not always a matter of: I don't like the arrangement, or I don't like his voice, or the lyrics suck, or whatever. However, in respect of this tune, i will have a go at explaining my specific issues: it's too sugary for my liking and, for once, i'm not keen on his voice (e.g the way he sings "never thought that fairy tales came true-oo-oo-ooh) and I think the spoken love-in is . Certainly wouldn't be in my top 3. But there are some fantastic songs on there and I spin this album a fair amount.
