When was the moment when you thought "This guy's truly off his nut"?

I haven't been involved in Prince fandom for too many years, but for me the moment when I thought the guy had finally flipped was hearing rumours about the new album that would have four instrumental tracks titled North, East, West and South, all of which would be exactly fourteen minutes in length and would probably be released as a CD. eek Of course, the album turned out to be great, but from those early rumours it sounded so bizarro. When was your moment?

The first listen of Lovesexy in '88. I think my first words were,
"He has completely lost his mind!"
I couldn't have been more hooked at that point!.

When I heard painfully horrible rapping trickle into his albums.

I thought "How the fuck can he think that sounds good?"
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

After I heard the Black Album and learned that he scrapped it.

To be honest I never really thought it...

He is an artist and loves to push forward and try new things.. sooo with that thinking and EVEN lines in the Purple Rain Movie of him doing what he wants to do & not worrying about what others think..

I never thought he was nuts.. just an Artist who is trying new things smile

I remember that. He was introduced as Tora Tora. I remember hoping he'd fall over the drum kit on his way to the mic, but sadly he could see perfectly. lol
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

He presented an award or something like that dressed up as the old man from the "Come On" video. Nobody at the event knew what in the hell Prince was doing, or what charcter he was trying to portray.

Whoever thought that would be funny must've been smoking some serious stuff.

Never actually thought the man was off his nut.

Always assumed he was veiling himself, writing slave, and whatever, just to get publicity. Which it did (whether it was good or crap publicity is another story).
