This is the first time that I really hope Prince will talk religion on national TV - I hope they have both he and Mel on the coach chatting at the same time.

I'm amazed at how Mel Gibson has to continually keep justifying this movie. There are endless interperetations of the Bible, his isn't the first or the last. It would be impossible for him to make such a movie that will please every flavor of christianity. He's entitled to his own understanding of the bible.

Well, he doesn't have to justify it, but he wants people to go pay money to see it, so he is trying to smooth over any negativity towards the film.

Yeah, I don't get that either. I also don't get how he had to pay for the movie out his own pocket but if he was making a movie about anything else, he would have gotten huge studio support behind him.

You know what I don't get? I don't get why it is OK to tell the story of the halocaust and present it in an accurate way yet that is not expected to be (nor should it be) offensive to Germans yet telling the story of another historical event is anti-semitic. If you admit that what the Germans of that day did was wrong, does it mean you think all Germans are responsible for it? Of course not. Only the people involved AT THAT TIME. As the story goes, the Romans gave the jewish people a choice. They could choose to let Jesus go free or they could let Barabas (a known murderer) go free. The Jewish public of that time chose to keep barabas alive and send Jesus to death. Yes, the Romans followed through with the execution. Pontious Pilot, however, did not want to kill Jesus. He didn't care about a 'Sabbath breaker'...he was Roman, lol. The decision to kill Jesus was up to the Jews of that day. For anyone who says this is anti-semitic, I have to ask you if you realize Jesus, himself, was Jewish. The christian religion has a set of beliefs. Some of those beliefs are opposite from Jewish beliefs. Does that make all of christianity anti-semitic? Mel Gibson's film was blacklisted by a lot of film companies in America. It was very difficult for him to get this film distributed, marketed, etc. Now that it is being released, his image is being twisted into making him look like a madman or a religious zealot. If Mel was making some kind of film that dealt with the silence of the catholic church during the halocaust my bet is that it would be heralded by the press and it would be supported strongly.
