Prince talks to Tavis This Thursday, late night on PBS
(Feb. 17, 2004) *Prince is usually a reclusive individual. But every once in a while he emerges from his normal haunts a graces the public with a performance and interview or two.
Last time he stepped out was at the Grammys and now he's stepping out again as a guest on the PBS talker "The Tavis Smiley Show." He'll be in the house this Thursday, February 19.

Recorded in Los Angeles last Thursday, Prince gave his perspectives on his longevity, on the state of the music business, on the provocative content in music, on the public’s perception of him and on his spiritual evolution.

The 18 minute segment opened with a solo instrumental performance and concluded with Prince singing a new composition.

“Anytime you have to rely on raciness alone, you’ll get the audience you deserve, ” Prince told Tavis. “Cursing was cool when nobody was dong it, just a couple of people. If everyone wears the same clothes, then it ain’t cool. You’re trying to be different. One can’t be different in being racy today. It’s not interesting anymore. Sexiness was in the mind, in your imagination.”

Thanks for the info though, sounds pretty cool to me. I hope Prince will not act/talk too vaguely on Travis' show and spoil the goodwill he earned with the Grammy performance...

It sounds like Prince determines what he says and does mostly by what other people do. He curses when others don't, and he doesn't when they do. Why doesn't he just do what he feels like without having to be "different" all the time...it just seems like a facade.

Prince is positioned one foot away from the camera and Mr. Smiley is three foot away.

Hence - Prince looks gigantic.

Tavis looks like he lost weight.

I would pay Prince to say "motherfucker" just once more.
