Emma Bunton interview mentions Prince

Emma Bunton being interviewed by NME UK newspaper, November 2003:

Q. You're currently on an indie label. Thats a bit of a rum old, isnt it?
A. Well after having been on Virgin I wanted somewherewhere I'd get the support i needed. I was growing up i suppose. I'd been in touch with Simon [Fuller] and he was into my stuff, so we founded this thing where we both have complete control over what I'm doing.

Q. But where's the quality control? Who's going, 'Emma, thats rubbish'?
A. Well you sort of do your own A&R after a while, you know whats good and whats bad.

Q. What, like Prince? His independant stuff has been nonsense. Wheres your perspective?
A. Well... yes. People do go off on tangents. But I'll go to my family and friends - like my little nephew. If he doesnt dance to something I'll be like, 'Shit. Thats crap get the next one on.'

the thing is, as much as we sometimes blindly defend prince, this is so full of shit. primarily because they would have to be hardcore fans to be able to listen to most of the stuff he's released, ie members of his fanclub. and if theyve listened to TRC and called that nonsense, well actually i wouldnt be surprised, a) theyre entitled to their opinion and b) theyre full of shit.

but still, it always amuses me when reviews say prince hasnt released a note of worthwhile music in 10 years when most of it is either OOP or only available to fanclub members!

Is this worth a thread?
