One Nite Alone Live cd set rules!

Who says Prince doesn't have any good new material? I personally think that the One Night Alone Live 3 cd set is amongst the best music I've ever heard! And a lot of it is Rainbow Children stuff which I'd never cared for before. He sure gives all those songs new life playing them live! The more I hear this stuff, the more I love it. I especially love 1+1+1=3, The Other Side of the Pillow, The Everlasting Now, and The Rainbow Children. Oh, and I absolutely love the Aftershows cd, especially the first song, Joy In Repetition. Some of the best guitar playing I've ever heard P turn out. Awesome stuff. That's the kinda guitar solo I would have loved to hear at the Grammys! How do u guys rate this collection against other Prince albums?
Must I become naked? No image at all?

It is hypocracy at it's highest level. It is a OFFICIAL bootleg done by prince and the NPGMC. Total crap if you ask me. Yeah, the music is good but if the NPGMC or any other organization tries to hate on bootlegs then I say SHIT ON THEM!!!!

I agree...Prince may not be as talented a song writer as he once was, but he's still a superb live performer. I was listening to CD 3 of this set (the aftershow one) last night and it is too funky...helped me get through washing a lot of boring dishes!

After hearing the Chicago ONA show, the released version was so weak to me. I've played it once since it arrived.

Its not hypocrisy to say that he would prefer to actually make money off of his music, rather than it going to a bootlegger. Oh, and by definition, there is no such thing as an "OFFICIAL bootleg".

Back to the topic, I think its a fine collection of live material. Could have been a little longer, but the musicianship is fantastic. The live version of "Xenophobia" is so fantastic, that I really don't mind that he chose to not release the studio version. He should have put "I Love U, But I Don't trust U Anymore" on there though.

I do think for this first live album it was wise to leave off all the covers.

To be honest, I've heard better bootlegs. The third disc is crap except for JIR, and that's edited and overdubbed too. 6/10

TBODP surely isn't crap! In fact, I'd say it rivals JIR as the best track on there. 2NU4WC is tight, too.

And JIR is so little overdubbed that it's not even worth mentioning, IMO.

Sorry, what are the rules for the "One Night Alone" live CD set? Do you have to down a shot every time he squeals?

I don't understand what anyones problem is with the set, I really enjoy it. Never heard a boot that comes even remotely close to the sound quality. Perhaps if it had been recorded by someone in the crowd to give it that authentic bootleg sound then some people would like it more.

Hell yeah i love ONA live! yes biggrin
I understand the negative feelings about it.
I know the things on the cd that i feel a little "let down"
about, but there is no denying (for me) that
this is one of his best albums. Prince, this
band, these songs, and the recording qu,
are all HOT dancing jig music
