Joy In Repetition or The Love We Make? It's gotta be The Love We Make for me...

"The Love We Make" is a nice song, but I think "Joy in Repetition" is more representative of Prince. It seems like a signature song, tapping P's traits as a (Santana-influenced) guitarist, a woman-obsessed loner.
Plus, while the mood for JIR is moody, it's not somber like TLWM's feel.

Joy in Repetition is a AMAZING piece of muzik, it's like a long slow orgasm that builds and builds, the two words "Love me" give the climatic release. P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N!

I'll say "Joy in Repetition" because I've never heard "The Love We Make". But I'll bet you that even if I did hear it, my opinion would not change. "Joy.." just kicks too much !!! Good question as "Love" is the "Joy" for this tour.
I have to pick Joy in Repetition...for all the poets and the part-time singers. But I will say, after seeing The Love We Make, it kicks total a*s in a live setting. He blazes the new Fender Strat on it reeeeeal hard.

In terms of studio versions, 'Joy' wins out. Much as I love 'The Love We Make', it has that damn 'plasticy' 'Emancipation' production sound that slightly mars it.
I was very pleased to read here that P. has apparently been performing 'The Love We Make' live recently. With his current band and a cool re-arrangement, this may be in danger of kicking the 'Joy' ONA Live version's ass!!

TLWM for me.
It has a lot of genuine impact on me when I listen to it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
