Who would you want Prince to do a duet with

If Prince's first single happens to be a duet, who would it be and why? Do you think it will be a hit?

Like for myself, I think he should have Beyonce on there because she is very talented. The girl can sing, plus she is widely known for her music. She has made lots of hits. If she records with Prince, they will make a huge hit together. You saw the reactions at the grammy's. It's a perfect combination.

Nobody.

I don't get this constant obsession for him to "team up" with someone else.

IMO, most of his duets aren't so great anyway, and I really despise the whole 'hooking up with the flavor of the month talent to try to sell an album/song' ploy.

He doesn't need gimmicks or to glom onto the coattails of whoever is "big" at the moment. He didn't do that to achieve what he did with the Purple Rain album, he doesn't need to do it now.

I don't want watered down Prince: i.e. Prince music with the moment's current hot musical trend thrown in to make the music commericially viable. Yuck. One of the reasons I fell in love with Prince's music and the whole Minneapolis sound was it didn't sound like everything else out there at the time. Prince needs to stay a maverick and an original but it seems like there's always this big desire for him to "hook up with" other artists and I just don't get that. Just because so many other of today's artists feel the need to make a zillion duets with other artists who sound the same as them and make the same sounding music as them doesn't mean Prince should.

Lucinda Williams. She is the best female artist out there right now and it would all be about the music and not about the hype.

Fuck yeah, wouldn't that be some cool trippy shit.

While we're at it, hell, have him do a duet with Morrissey!

i think he should have a banjo duel with Ricky Tomlinson from the Royle Family.

Fuck, just to see Prince playing the banjo would be funny.

That'll be a Royle (not Royal) edit.
