Would you guys actually want Prince to own his WB material? Keep in mind his new religion which would likely result in massive editing. Would he rerelease Dirty Mind as it is? Or would we have to suffer through new edits? Plus he's not doing a very good job of keeping the stuff he does own in print. How are new fans supposed to hear Emancipation, Crystal Ball/The Truth and other stuff that is now out of print? I wasn't a member of the NPGMC until recently so there are a load of tracks I don't have, at least until Chocolate Invasion appears. I think Prince has proved that he is incapable of running his own affairs. He sooo needs to be back on a major label. I'm still pissed about the cancellation of Chocolate Invasion. I think he needs to realise how few fans he has left and that he needs to start showing us some respect. Hopefully 2004 will bring us some great new funk as well as a sequel to Crystal Ball.

I guess for some reason when I was thinking of The Masters I was also including all the fantastic, "raunchy" unreleased shit. I'm fine if I already have the song, but with that kinda shit it REALLY irks me. Just stupidity.

You can still have your old un-remastered copies unedited, but when you want to have the recordings in new clean remastered quality you will have to sit through all the edits and other bs. So how long does this needs to go back and forth? I know he has already edited club tracks of his masterpieces. If Prince wants to butcher his songs, by all means if he has that right let him.

The only thing I am trying to say is that I won't buy them in that case and I hope passionately that he won't butcher his masterpieces when he starts releasing remasters. In my view this would be dishounoring the original recordings. That's all really.

btw. I don't see any "investment" by having an opinion on a remaster and editing issue. This is a board where we can discuss these issues and share our opinions. All you are doing is judging me for having an opinion you don't like.

and, i may be a smart ass...ok, i confess, i am...but i am certainly not judging you. i am judging the comment you made as well as the comments others have made. i'm sorry if it seems offensive but i feel its selfish to want warner bros to retain ownership of someone else's work because the creator of that work may do something you don't like. i mean, if you said they should retain ownership because they fronted the money or gave him the opportunity to make it or simply because that's the contract he signed, i would have respect for that. but not for some selfish reason that has nothing to do with the owner of the work or the creator of the work.

Selfish? Good God... I didn't say I want WB to retain ownership of his work. I said I don't want Prince to butcher it. How is that selfish if I just wish he would respect the originals ? How hard is it really to stop putting words into my mouth?
