Wow - this is exciting news to wake up to!

Does anyone else think it's strange that Lisa isn't with them? If Prince and Wendy were hooking up for the first time in 16 years or so, you'd think they'd want Lisa too, right? Maybe this was just a very impromptu coincidence, like ?uestlove suggested.

I love that he's started playing with Sheila E again, then Eric Leeds, and now Wendy. I'm not someone who wants to see Prince back with all his old bandmates on a regular basis, but I think it's wonderful (and healthy, for everyone involved) that he's repairing relationships and at least can play with them when both parties want to.

This doesn't HAVE to be 1984 again !

But my guess is that they probably will play some older songs/medley together. Cause i don't see the point of Prince playing a new song right now and there, even if Wendy participated in the recording proces of it..
I think Prince is still trying to get it all together to make a sort of big come-back, through a major label. Considdering that, he prabably waits for some kind of gidelines from his new company how to deal with the upcomming new release, playing in tv shows, etc.. (and i hope Lisa participates as well..)

Well it could be true though that they recorded together some new trax. Who knows. we'll find out in time.

I'm very very glad they decided to play together again in this upcomming broadcast. My bet is that this is going to be major news after the 19th..

I thnk they will play some acoustic set : "kiss" "raspberry beret" "take me with u" "sometimes it sowes in april" or something like that..

Besides, I think it's the show's directors and producers who get the final say in what's broadcast, not Prince. Sometimes we Prince fans live in the fantasy that Prince is in control of everything. He's not.

This is the most positive thread I've seen in this joint. Maybe Prince didn't play the Family Jamm cuz he has his own reunion tour plans in place.

I was the first one to say I hated grammys performance0cuz I think catered to casual fans, and look a little uninspired...a step backwards.

But rekindling a creative flame with Wendy Melvoin would be amazing. Wendy has really done great stuff in the last 15 years. Man, that Neil Finn record (One all.One nil) Sheryl Crow sound "My favorite Mistake" (she wrote & performed on that one). As a guitarist & musician Wendy is a hero of mine...she's so fucking great.

I remember first seeing Wendy in Purple Rain, and getting so turned on seeing her spin around and show a bit of her ass. Wow.

i have been complaining for a while that prince needs to add a second guitarist to the npg... because the songs where prince isn't playing guitar ("the work", "pop life" etc) have an emptiness where a rhythm guitar should be...

i would looove to see him add wendy to the npg to take that spot, because she really holds her own on the guitar...

that sad, i do not necessarily want to see him reform the revolution... the current npg is a much better live band, and i really don't wanna see him mess up the great thing he's got going on with those musicians right now...
