Where can I get the piano-solo by "Prince´s father" in Purple Rain? You know the one he´s playing in the basement, when Prince walks in!
Have been looking for it for some years!

The tune is called 'Father's Song' and is credited to Prince's father, John L Nelson.

A stand alone audio recording of the song has never been officially released.

It's part of the Purple Rain sheet music (for the film, not the song of course) and it's pretty easy to play; you could always record it yourself...

I have always loved this song too, it's the second part of "Computer Blue" Really cool how he put that in the movie, after he played it on piano. I taped it off the TV when I was a kid, and I have the sheet music, but when I play it it don't sound as good as Prince! I even tried wearing a large hoop earing..no dice!

Father's song was cool. But what about the part where the kid is adapting Purple Rain to piano? That was one of the peak moments of the movie for me. I play piano and these parts are not super complicated but if you don't play at all it will be too advanced for you to figure out probably.

I agry - there is nothing cooler than Prince by the Piano. I´m just sad that "Father´s song" and the other instrumental tunes of P.R. isn´t included the soundtrack.
