Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: Live Broadcast in Cleveland

Taken from a post over at NPG (apologies if it's not real, but it seems to be):

ROCK HALL HOSTS EXCLUSIVE LIVE BROADCAST OF THE 19TH ANNUAL ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

INDUCTION CEREMONY

Cleveland Museum is the only place outside of New York’s Waldorf-Astoria to see the entire, unedited Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

CLEVELAND (February 11, 2004) – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will host an exclusive live broadcast of the 19th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Monday, March 15, 2004. The broadcast will begin at 8:00 p.m. (Doors open at 7:00 p.m.).

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions will be held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on March 15. Tickets to the black tie event in New York are $2,500. Visitors to the Museum in Cleveland will be able to witness the entire length of the 2004 Induction Ceremony for only $10. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will broadcast the entire four-hour ceremony, including the unedited performances and all of the comments that are cut from the television broadcast. This one-time showing will be seen on several large screens throughout the Museum.

Previous Induction Ceremonies have been rich with colorful commentary, Inductee performances and celebrity cameos. “There’s really no way that you can squeeze all of that into a one hour television broadcast,” said Todd Mesek, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. “We’re extremely excited to bring this rare viewing opportunity to visitors at the Museum. You really won’t be able to see this anywhere else…ever,” he added.

The 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame “Performer” Inductees are Jackson Browne, the Dells, George Harrison, Prince, Bob Seger, Traffic and Z.Z. Top. The Inductee in the “Lifetime Achievement in the Non-Performer” category is Jann S. Wenner. An edited version of the 2004 Induction Ceremony will air on television later in March (check local listings for dates and times).

The Museum will also unveil the 2004 Inductee exhibit earlier that same day. March 15 will be the first opportunity for Museum visitors to see the 2004 Inductee Exhibit and listen to their music on the Rock Hall’s Inductee jukeboxes. All exhibits will be open to tour during the event.

I've been to the Rock Hall Museum many times. As far as I can tell the seating will be general admission. There will be a stage set up near the left side of the building near the main entrance (just north of the MOBY and GWEN signs and the ZOO TV sign and hanging U2 ZOO TV Trabant cars.

From what I understand, it will be the same set-up as the MTV LIVE at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gigs seen on MTV in the recent past (Alicia Keys, Orgy, etc). One the stage there will be huge monitors.

We will be able to walk around and whatnot for $10 and see some of the new displays (that is what the press release says). I would also think we can go into the hall of fame area itself and witness the unveiling of the class of 2004 crystal light signatures.

Hope this helps.

oh ... and in one of the main rooms, on level one -- the basement -- there is Prince's purple rude boy pinned jacket on display in the rock and roll fashion timeline.

I also believe that P.Org user who is from Erie, Pa., will have his collection on display for the 2004 Indcutee spotlight. I think.

That is correct, that would be me. I don't know if the exhibit will be up by then but I will be going anyways. My real name is Dan Sheldon and the plaque will say "From the collection of Daniel J. Sheldon".

They borrowed about 40 of my 45's and 12" mixes combined with an estimated value of over $600 (OUCH!, do I really have that much money rapped up in Prince records? lol ) What a pain it was to come up with a price value for insurance purposes, especially for the rarer items.

Everybody I have dealt with at the hall have been wonderful people!
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.
