Thoughts on Sunday night's HOB show... My third P show and the best yet.
Prince the funky jazzman. Prince the jazzy funkman. Either way you slice it, the shit was classic. Other people have the setlist, but I'll give you to lowdown - the little man tore it UP. He could have played fuckin' "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and they woulda ROCKED it. I've seen the man play guitar before up close...but unless I was higher than usual - his playing was extra tasty Sunday night. And that horn section? Think of hot garbage - only funkier. Sure, waiting in line in the clammy cold while standing on an incline for several hours was a serious bitch. And sure, waiting outside the doors of the House of Blues while some silent girls did a middle-eastern style dance for another hour in the cold was a serious bitch too. Of course, standing shoulder to shoulder with antsy people on the floor in front of stage for a half hour while waiting for the show to begin was a bitch as well. However, when that music started...Prince made that whole crowd his bitch. All the misery of holding pee for hours was wiped out. With a band THAT tight, there's no way the boy could lose. I keep it real...I can only hope somebody bootlegged the fuck outta this thing and the mp3s hit the net in a matter of weeks. I pray that somebody snuck a video camera in and just releases this shit on the streets. I'm tellin' ya...it was that good...I'd break federal laws to see it again. Last but not least, the PEOPLE! As always, a prolific group - some of the coolest cats you'd ever meet. When you've got good taste in music, it's all good. That's my two cents. Not much of a review...but maybe my expansive use of profanity will illustrate just how awesome the night was. | |

That's the thing about Prince: All bullshit flies out the window when he takes the stage. I have my own issues when it comes to him, but the moment I hear he's announced a show, I turn into a giddy little bitch. All negativity bows and the most important thing, the music, takes the forefront. | |
