4 me since 2001 with TRC!>i'm talking about an Album with vocals & commercial release!

NEWS >>is not a real new album 4 me >Independant release 4 hardcore fans only...a jazz-rock fusion album...Beurk!

Xpectation>ONA studio >> downable version & xclusive cd 4 NPGMC members !!

ONA Live > it's not a studio Album!

I want a new commercial release Album with new material with Prince on vocals + a single & a clip!

that's it
nod

While I -- a knowledgable jazz-fan -- don`t consider NEWS one of the greater experiments in fusion, it still is a real album by all means. Only because you don`t like the music on it it doesnt make it less of a Prince-album. The same counts for Xpectation (which I personally value a lot). Both records were artistic statements of that time, they reflect Prince`s musical state of mind just like Lovesexy or any other record.

And while ONA Live is no studio album, it`s still a REAL CD release with great music.

It doesnt matter whether an album is being published to the general audience or fanbase only --- since Prince has not been with a major label in the past years, all records can be considered REAL albums, whether you like the music or not.

When his biggest sellers like 1999 and Purple Rain came out, they did NOT reflect the mainstream taste of that era at all, therefore they were not considered commercial when they came out. It was their final sales that commercialized them, and you are right, Prince owes a lot to the success of especially Purple Rain.

However, why should he always continue releasing commercial music? He had some hits, they still pay his bills, and Prince today actually makes more money than ever through NPGMC. There is simply no need for him to play or produce music that pleases the masses.

Nope I don't agree hmph!
A 'real' Album is produced when Prince is making Music 4 all 2 enjoy like LOVESEXY or GOLD EXPERIENCE-...NEWS was a selfish project he made with his band and thought 4 days later..."fuck it, lets package this pile of shit and sell it-they'll buy anything I release...the fools har har har har..." evillol

Think about no one hearing Mozart when he was around-that guy only reached the pinnacle of worlsd appreciation long long after he was dead despite being a Royal Court Musician at one point then he just had a smaller following until death-same shit Is happening 2 prince...he's got 2 be considered a Legend whilst he's still alive otherwise it's all just secound hand love of his music baby... nod

That`s absolute rubbish.
Prince didn`t make Lovesexy or the Gold Experience to please the masses. Both albums are rather non-commerical and didnt sell well (although Lovesexy was distributed through Warner Brothers). I found especially Lovesexy hard to access for the masses, but you obviously like these records because they feature Prince`s VOCALS.

NEWS was no "fuck it and fool the fans"-package (there are many other records that give me that impression). It`s rather Prince putting out music without compromize. He has always loved fusion jams, but WB would have never agreed to releasing an album like news, because it`s a bad commercial decision.

Today, Prince is in the great position for an artist to ignore commercial demands. He really MEANT "News" -- it came from his heart, although even I don`t dig it too much. But personal taste doesnt decide what is a REAL album or not, and that`s what you are doing. And you know what? That is disrespecting the artists soul for your own personal gain.

Like or dislike any Prince album. But don`t claim "This is not a real album" just because you don`t like the music on it. I never liked Purple Rain, Batman, Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls, The Symbol Album, Emancipation, Chaos and Disorder and Rave. But they are still Prince albums.

The fact that you compare a 20th Century pop star to a 18th Century classical composer shows off your lack of musical knowledge quite well.

No need to fight. Just stay on topic. Comparing Prince with Mozart really doesn`t help. If you are a managing director I m sure you know that the textile business in 1780 was different from today, right? And you would hardly compare a clothes designer of the royal palace in Vienna to Tommy Hilfiger, right?
btw who says I´m a guy?

My darling I apologise 4 the assumption and assure U that chivalry is not dead-being rich is not all it's cracked up 2 be-when U can have anything U want U kind of want the things out of reach-i guess thats why Im back in2 Prince after so many years working on my business-There is no right or wrong way 2 be in2 Prince -U just have 2 be in2 him and U get a buzz...

Anyway enough about me and yes I know wealth is no substitute 4 education but my educated guess is that Prince is having a midlife crisis and he's scared that he'll become another Little Richard or that guy who sings "war! what is it good 4" or the guy who sings "kung fu fighting" known 4 a couple of hits but nothinng more...

From what I hear from people who are close to Prince is that he finally broke through his mid-life crisis... that he is finally happy with who he is and what he wants from life. That truly is reflected in his music. He has reached a level of maturity that doesnt only comfort him in music, but his personality as well. I hear that he has calmed down and is a pretty cool dude these days. That wasn`t always like that.
I too had ignored Prince during the entire 90s, and it`s his spiritual and musical maturity that has attracked me to come back to listen to him again. And I am by no means a Jehova`s Witness.

Lovesexy was one whole religous trip. And you didnt seem to care.

Prince gets inspired musically by his spiritual findings. You have to accept him as one package -- with his God or not at all.

That doesn't qualify as a comeback. A comeback is when he starts selling records again, selling out large venues, and being asked to appear on TV a lot.

1. He's made four television appearances very recently with two more on the way.

2. He's sold out the 14,000 seat Staples Center in Los Angeles on March 29th with a second date added in May to accomodate those who were unable to obtain tickets.

3. "Musicology" will be distributed to all concert ticket holders and attendees of the tour opener screenings across America with worldwide retail distribution to follow later this year.

Not that I would call it a comeback either. I think those kinds of marketing terms are juvenile.
