Prince in The News... Just as he planned to be.

There hasn't been one article or mention of Prince on TV or radio that has said anything bad about Princes' performance on the Grammys. But ironically many of us orgers had our say about how 'it wasn't a performance for FAMS like us'. So I guess his plan to be in the public eye (more mainstream) is working. But here's the real question: why do WE want him to be? It's fairly unanimous that peeps on here love albums like SOTT, Lovesexy, and dare I say it The Gold Experience; but none of these albums experienced much commercial success. So what are we really pushing for? Do we want another Purple Rain or Diamonds and Pearls type of album? Why are we all hyped up over the future commercialization and packaged marketing of our beloved Prince?

Even The New York Post is saying good things about Prince.

Honestly, I want Prince to have the same sort of exposure that he had with D and P and if it can get to PR style publicity then it's even better, but it may never happen. I just would like to see Prince be popular again. It would be nice to hear new Prince music on top 40 radio one more time. I don't think that's wrong to want that and I think more people here want that than they care to admit. You also asked if we wanted another Purple Rain or Diamonds and Pearls type of album. Absolutely not. I just want kick ass music and if it's promoted the way it supposed to be, it'll be a smash hit. The time is NOW.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't even care if he never has a top 40 hit again, I just want his music to get distributed to a much broader audience of music fans.

With a label behind him, at least ppl will remember that Prince is indeed still alive and making music.

BTW Don't be too shy about saying how great TGE is, I thought it was better than even some of his 80's work.

These are my thoughts exactly. I've never felt the need to preach the Prince gospel. People know that I love his music but I have never tried to convert those around me. What I want is to have better access to the music. I never joined the club as I don't have full time access to a computer. I found that the NPGMC cut many fans off from his music rather than made it easier to access.

The Gold Experience was the last Prince album (aside from ONAL) that I really got excited about. I want to have that again, dammit!

I think it's because we (well, some of us) care about him and want the best for him, I suppose. biggrin We want the rest of the world to realize what we already know: The Prince kicks ass, and his time is not over, despite what some would have us believe.
The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

Ahhh these responses are all very sweet. This is truly what Prince meant by spreadin love as opposed to the hypocrisy that goes on over at NPGMC. It's nice to see that in spite of all of our OPINIONS here on the org, we all just want the best for the lil Fascist. Hopefully the PP Mods that check up on this site will find this thread in the midst of all the threads complaining about his poor selection of songs at the Grammys and the dismay they endured by Beyonce being on stage.
