Chill for a minute. I said that if I was Prince, that`s how I would have done it. Prince doesn`t need the Grammy`s. He hasn`t been playing them in a long time and been perfectly fine. Yes they are... He probably had clout, though. Okay, yes they're stupid for routinely giving grammies to undeserving, so called "artists" but they're not stupid enough to turn down a performance from Prince... What tha---?? This is a crazy thread I will have to admit. Prince's appearance on the Gram. was great PR plain and simple. If he had done the Super Bowl it would have been even bigger/better. Doing shows like Letterman/Leno/Today Show are good exposure to an older audience, but for him to have any effect in the music (popular) world it has been proven that u must have some strong pull with the younger buyers (B. Spears, C Aguelara, Ja Rule, J Timberlake etc). I said it once and I'll say it again. THE MUSIC WORLD HAS BEEN IN NEED OF A "PRINCE", a hero, a true musical presence SINCE 1988, when Prince decided to go a completely different route with Lovesexy instead of The Black Album. Look how easily Prince almost reconquered the music world in 1991-92. They keep searching (Tricky, D'Angelo, Maxwell, Alicia Keys, Macy Gray, Kravitz, Timberlake, damn list goes on and on and gets longer every year) In the 80's Prince music was fun, mysteriously, classical, sexy, and brilliant unfortunatley by the time the rest of the world rediscovers that the talent was still in the original he will be 55 years old. The guy is Great and the Grammy performance was exceptional for the Gram. anyway. | |
