Boy, throw Prince on TV for a few minutes and folks think it's the 2nd coming...

I didn't watch the Grammy's. What songs did he do? Why do you people think he's still on top of the world?

I just don't get it.

Being a UK'er i've not seen it yet either, he's definately had a lot of favourable reviews in the media though. Says alot about the state of the music industry when an artist can perform a medley of 20yr old songs and the press are begging for more.

I wouldn't say he's on top of the world, but he's managed to get his foot on the ladder to get there.

Let`s face it, folks. Prince could have played ANYTHING, ANY STYLE at the Grammy`s, and the fams would have treated it as the holy grail.

And no, I am not a naysayer. I think Prince is currently recording some of his finest music and is playing hs greatest shows. I just think that the Grammy performance sucked.

i enjoyed it

i'm sorry

if it were a broadcast of some freaky ass underground aftershow party, i would have been disappointed.

since it was the grammys, i didn't expect him do to "the war" in esperanto dressed like gemini from the batdance video.

was it the best performance i've ever seen him do? naw. but what do you want for free?

I didnt expect that either. But a nice, tight new song would have been great. Something that shows: Prince is a contemporary artist and he has taken the funk to the 21st century. Only few people are aware that he did that. Instead, he performed a lame greatest-hits mini-show.

Ok, having SEEN the clip now...

It was cool. It didn't really feel like a "hits" deal, even though it was.

And let's face it, at least he didn't play "Wedding Feast".

That HAS to count for something.

The performance is mainly getting kudos from his fans because it was the smartest career move he's made in about 10 years. It wasn't even close to one of his best performances, but it accomplished what Prince set out to do: get people talking about him again. The guy was on the cover of several newpapers across the country. When was the last time that happened?

well when the music industry is now just kids standing in line and being judged by 3 morons on TV.. but still get a major push for a style of music that is from a throw back era rolleyes

&

the other half pretends to sing.. lip sync everywhere & more or less we are watching Dance Class.. NOT music.

**When you can see a highly skilled genius perform LIVE.. live sing, dancing & guitar, sure.. amazing but quick tastes of his skills with his voice & gutiar.

The World takes notice!

I just love the fact that he does the grammies, gets tons of press, then jams a show into a tiny venue like the Fillmore lol Don't get me wrong, I love seeing him in small venues & he's played there a lot - it's just funny that so many who forgot about him are dying to see him again & getting shut out of this tiny venue. It could be worse though - he could have chosen the Boom Boom Room :O

***

HOW PHAT WOULD IT BE FOR HIM TO DO A SET @ THE BOOM BOOM ROOM JUST FOR MEMBERS??!!! I doubt we'd all fit, but I can dream...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

As an artist I wouldn`t anybody tell me which songs I had to perform on a TV show. Either they buy me with my current idea of artistic expression, or they can go hire someone else.
