Prince needs discipline Yes yes and
Prince needs to have that 'restriction' of a major label to rebel against otherwise he'll just lose discipline and release good music thats 2 experimental and 2 risky all the time instead of some of the time which I think is what we all prefer...

A major label deal is not a panacea. It's just not that simple. Prince had a major label deal with WB through most of the nineties and his career still suffered. Sure, a major label deal should result in more promotion.
However, whether or not he can still make music that the public at large wants to hear is up for grabs. The public is fickle, and so is Prince.
