I know that this is a Prince thread, but I thought that was just a McTribute to Luther. Two songs?! It should have been at least as long as the funkfest. Heck, I wouldn't have minded the funk segment shortened for a longer tribute to Luther. And Patti shoulda sang.

I thought it was too short too, but what can you do. Grammy's are a snobby academy, also shrewd. They also didn't show the Funk Brothers, motowns great group of musicians get their award. They have been long forgotten and the right thing to do would be to have segment for them, with them playing. They've given as much as anyone to popular music of the last 40 years and nobody knows them. They are nice guys too.

I forgot all about after Celine sang Dance with my Father that he might have been thinking about his own father, I know because I think about mine and am always on the verge of tears when I hear that song. As far as Luther is concerned, I'm not sure if he was ever a Luther fan or was even influenced by him. What he was probably thinking, like I was, is why do you almost have to be dead or on your sick bed and have a stroke like Luther to get a tribute like that. If Luther would have been ok you think they would have done something for him like that. Prince was probably thinking I guess I got to have me a stroke to get something like this too. Plus, he probably was ready to go home or someplace if the category he was in had already been announced he hadn't won. Shit I know I would be.

Possible he was crying over his own father. I know that when I see father son things it kills me, my father spoiled me and treated me like a king, died when I was nine and left me with a void. Father son moments kill me.

They showed Prince with his arm around his wife (I assume, and is it just me or is she looking really hotter than I remember her looking)

It's called "make-up".
