I listen to funk all the time on the Funk channel on netscape radio cause I try to stay funky. GC was embarrassing. And as he was walking throught the audience I kept thinking about what my girlfriend told me. As for your comparative analysis, Prince may not be "pure uncut funk," as you say. That's like saying Magic couldn't shoot like Jordan or Bird, I can accept that, because they're all great artists in their own way. 1. Clinton and EWF have praised him and worked with him; and

2. OutKast and Sleepy Brown got to perform with them

I can see where you're coming from on funk. You're just as much a funk "snob" as I am a jazz "snob", so we're guilty of similar afflictions. I say that out of respect, because you have good musical tastes.

But if OutKast can share the stage with George and EWF, so can Prince.

It was just unfortunate because I believe Prince would have been a welcome addition, if for no other reason than out of respect for his forbears.
