That funk tribute was SAD...old guys trying to
hang onto the funk...Prince is beyond that.
I was embarrassed to watch it.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

The Funk medley at some good and weak spots. The young was good and the old was weak, especially George Clinton, who looked like he could barely climb a short flight of stairs.

Prince didn't join and thank goodness for that.

SO WHAT???!!!

OK, now I was slightly disappointed that Prince didn't join them, but now I'm like, so what? There was more than enough good funk there anyways.

You had Earth, Wind & Fire (with the return of of Maurice White), then Outkast, then Robert Randolph & the Family Band, then the P-Funk Mob. It don't get no funkier than that. Seeing Prince join them would've been nice, but he probably would've tried to show all them up. I'm sorry, that's how I feel. Besides, Prince is more than just funk. He does it all.

sacrilege!!! nastiness!!! blasphemy!!! nobody, and i mean nobody talks bootsy collins down like that! ever. rips off bkw's funk badge...disbelief

as for the funk tribute--that was the best part of the show, imo. it was nice to see all those cats together on the same stage, and i love-ded verdine white's outfit...fringey, furry pants. love2 and i don't give a flyin fuck if prince wasn't in the tribute. he would've been a bit outta place within it, anyhow. they had no loss with not havin him in the tribute, so ya'll need to calm it down with the "oh, he should've been in it!" stuff.

I just finished watching the Funk medley and I really enjoyyed it. It was great seeing Maurice White back with EWF and Robert Randolph and his back were TIGHT, and Outkast were too cool and P-funk were too crazy for me. I loved it.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Moxy

I am disappointed... The Grammy's are usually so predicatble on the production level. The opening show, the shots of him in the audience, it was definetly a set up for something. When the Funk came out I was just waiting for Samuel to tell everyone to sit back relax and open their eyes and ears to something funky that has been underated for a long, long time. I can only imagine Prince sitting in the crowd clenching his fists, trying to smile, the whole time thinking... can I please, please... just get up and throw some gold coins to this crowd...
None the less, after being an eclipse of the limelight for so long, every PR move he has made in the last while has been calculated, brilliant, and sound...
Opening the Grammy's is still just about the biggest commercial stunt someone can pull off, especially when that someone hasn't been around for a while. I envision another Funk tribute in a couple years where Prince gets to have his say.

He's not contemporary NOR is he "legend" in that revue-show style.

He islegendary of course for his music but he's in this in-between stage...audiences arent clapping for him because he's still alive, a la Luther, Stevie etc but they aren't jumping out of their seats cuz their excited either

he's a tween

Yeah, Prince is so beyond being an old guy trying to hold on to... oh wait a minute, Prince was the old guy trying to hold on to 1984 at the beginning of the show!

EW&F kicked P's ass, as did Robert Randolph. Clinton was hurtin' though as was Outkast.

P's performance was the saddest though...
