Purple rain was far to slow, Beyonce shoudln't of came in tht early, should have given PRINCE more time, but as the song went on it got better, then it got worse!!!

I was not pleased with the performance at all . Prince was wondeful and could have held his wieght without Beyonce. She is the It girl right now so that is why i think they teamed them up together.

The performance was energetic as hell...and Grammy performances rarely are. Prince somehow made a shortened medley of 20 year old hits seem appropriate instead of nostalgic (or even worse, pathetic)...he showed why even his old songs still pack a wallop...did you hear how the screams grew 10 times louder when Prince started into that ending guitar vamp at the end of "Let's Go Crazy"??...it was unreal...I doubt anyone seeing that live was saying "Oh, great, a medley...:boring:"

And the cut to Justin Timberlake and his mom was perfection...seeing mom mouth the words "That was great!!", and Justin turning to her, nodding, and saying "Yeah, that was hot!!", both smiling uncontrollably like morons at what they just witnessed...and check out the people behind Justin and his mom, especially the blonde woman right behind them...it's like their cheeks must be hurting, they're smiling so freakin' hard at the end...usually the crowd at the Grammys applauds politely at the end of performances, far more controlled in there response...they rarely, if ever, respond like they did to Prince and Beyonce's moment.

And speaking of Beyonce, she held MORE than her own with Prince up there...all the talk about "stealing the mic" and whatnot...please...Prince worked her to death in rehearsals prior to the Grammys...it was even a news feature, how he made DAMN sure Beyonce would and could hang with him up there...and apparently she was more than willing to be put thru the rigors in order to get it right. Do you REALLY think anything happened up there that Prince did NOT expect to happen??...Whatever she did, she did because it was agreed upon during rehearsals...she didn't just jump up onstage during Prince's performance and join him...she knew when to come in, how to sing, when to give the mic back over to him...everything...because HE made sure she did.

And from the looks of thing at the end, Prince was more than happy at how she performed with him. Had she been the newest unknown protoge up there, everyone here would be singing her praises ("Who's the new girl??...Wow, she's pretty...and she can sing, unlike Mayte!!")...sorry, but the woman has a voice on her, and I for one loved seeing her put it to use as a counterpoint to Prince's squealing guitar...loved seeing her channelling Tina Turner, legs and all...loved seeing her hair all messy and flying and whipping around...

But...it was nice to see that Prince still has so much talent and charisma, that he could effectively reduce the hottest female singer in pop music to an accessory...when she first came on stage, the screams were loud...but by the end of their performance, the screams were louder for Prince's guitar solos than they were for anything Beyonce was doing...
