Prince seems to have been pretty heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder (always liked his "They Won't Go..." organ intro on the SOTT movie version of Hot Thing), Santana, Hendrix and James Brown
But, I'd been listening to P for about 15 years before I finally got around to hearing Sly and the Family Stone just how much he stole ... er, was influenced by, Sly and the gang. We're talking: bass grooves fashion sense stage mannerisms musical timing guitar licks vocal delivery | |
