Santana. Prince has mentioned in interviews that his guitar playing is influenced more by Santana than Hendrix. [This message was edited Sun Feb 8 21:06:01 PST 2004 by squirrelgrease] If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Prince seems to have been pretty heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder (always liked his "They Won't Go..." organ intro on the SOTT movie version of Hot Thing), Santana, Hendrix and James Brown
But, I'd been listening to P for about 15 years before I finally got around to hearing Sly and the Family Stone just how much he stole ... er, was influenced by, Sly and the gang. We're talking: bass grooves fashion sense stage mannerisms musical timing guitar licks vocal delivery

You're forgetting the one person that has had the most impact on him:
JAMES BROWN!!! NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
