Seeing as how it looks like Prince is finally starting to utilize some opportunities to get back into the mainstream, what kind of sound do you think he's going for with the new album coming out later this year?

If it's getting released to a bigger audience than just his NPG/other net fans, can you really picture him going for the total jazz feel yet again?

God I hope not...

I think it's time Prince drop that and just get back to making mainly funk & pop music again.

news was great but i cant understand why he's not doing the kind of stuff people like and he enjoys to perform.it's almost like he's force censoring himself.i wish he would lighten up and get dirty.you know he wants to.

I understand he's a JW and all, so I don't exactly expect the next Pussy Control to get recorded.


Still, if he thinks he can attract any of the mainstream audience with a song like Rainbow Children then I think he's in for quite a shock.

No more jazz on the new album, that's all I want.

When I heard TRC and fantastic songs like Last December and 1+1+1=3, I realized this guy still has "it".

He just needs to lay off the jazz heavy songs.

if the concerts in aussie r anything 2 go by (and I only caught the sydney-1st night)...the new album wil b fonkay!!! mind u a lot of his songs sound better live don't they...but the new songs he did that night sounded great live...hope the studio versions rn't 2 far behind it

I'm under the impressin form the Hong Kong special and Las Vegas set lists that Prince has gotten the live/concert jazz bone finished. He seems more oriented towords[?] mainstream pop/rock. I honestly hope he gets back into the 4-5 min song habit. These long ass jams get old after a while, I'm looking for some unique song structure. There usually isn't a lot of structure in a 12 min free for all. And jazz tunes are usually pretty straight forward when it comes to structure.


P.S.: I know how to spell but I got stuck on one word that I usually can spell(towords[?]). I know I've spelled it correctly in the past. I also know it happens to other people. I call it a spelling-B...as in spelling-break. And then there's typos which I am horrible with.

please God please, no jazz! maybe he can jam a bit live but give us sumthang new PLEASE!!

he's over being mainstream(or so i somerimes believe) so no PR2
i hope he got that jazz era part of his life thing out of his life so HOPEFULLY no TRC or N.E.W.S version 2.0

he's 45 now, not 25 like Dansa said so i guess we can't really hope for some great rocky, raunchy, no limits album like DM or 1999, but maybe he'll give us something unique, somwthing new. Something DIFFERENT.
