Just had the greatest fun since ages transfering my old vinyl stuff onto MD.

I've phattened up the songs I just LOVE to play often again, as I used to do.

That’s just 74 minutes of music and that’s just half of the things I do not have on CD in the meantime. Still need to do the Madhouse remixes, the other Sheila E stuff, my Cameo remixes etc.

gooey,i need some advice...i need a new portable cd player..shall i buy a md player or what???i aint got a computer of my own and u know how shit i am on comps!!ps im in amsterdam next month!

If you do not have a computer, maybe a MD player is a good idea. First of all; the are more shockproof. But those are the portables.

I have one integrated in my Sony mini hifi set. It does not only offer you long play (150 minutes on one 80 minute MD), but the best things about MD are...

You record a song. It sounds soft, you can boost up (or lower) the sound! Did that with Sign "O" The Times. And with mixtapes; a song from SOTT followed by a song of The Gold Experience had a HUGE difference in volume. I always need to tone TGE songs DOWN.

You record a song; it takes too long; you fade it out. Or simply divide it and mix it into another song (which is fun, using the scratch intro's of Housequake or Let's Work, or the We Don't Like New Wave scratch from The Time) I almost always do this with Alphabet St., which I think gets boring after Cat's rap. So I just cut it right there, after "go and tell your momma about THAT!" and then cut to another song, most often the intro explosion of Let's Work.

The dividing things comes handy. I almost always divide long jams, like LaLaLaHeHeHee, so I can find the parts I like faster.

You record a song; then some more, somehow the do not sound right in that order; you just change the order of recorded songs! keep changing the order until it's right. I do this all the time with my BEST OF md's. I have a best of Prince Ballads, best of Prince Popsongs, Prince's Songs 4 Sundays (his best spiritual stuff) etc etc.
Some songs just do not sound RIGHT back to back. Mix it up!

And then you have fade ins and fade outs. It's fun. If a song just goes on and on, you just fade out to the next song. I can show you next month in Amsterdam!

In all cases to record something you need to have TWO devices...

I have a mini hifiset that has CD, MD, cassette and a tuner.

But I needed to hook up a LP player to be able to record the vinyl.
