Miles Davis' version of Movie Star

I've just been listening to Miles' version of Movie Star from the Miles in Montreux 20 CD box-set. Comments about Miles' '80s music aside, I can't understand Prince's decision to offer the track to him (or Miles' decision to accept) - the song, at least as an instrumental, is light and playful to the point of being disposable.

Does anyone know the story behind this? I'm not bringing this up to say Prince was wrong to offer it, or that Miles was wrong to accept - anyone have any anecdotal information?

Is this the same Movie Star that's on Crystal Ball where Prince talks through the beginning? If so, I agree. A light song to be offering to the creator of Kind of Blue. Maybe I should listen to it again.

u should, but not to the CB-version. Davis has it's own version. I think it's a funny and nasty theme.
