30 Albums In The Can With Complete Artwork Ready For Release I think I recall reading a comment from an orger who attended one of the Celebrations...that said one of Prince's employee stated that Prince has 30 albums mastered and completed with the artwork sitting in the ...ooops I got to say that forbidden word THE VAULT...I wonder if that's really true?...Now I know he has plenty of unreleased music...but I didn't know he had 30 albums{right down to the artwork}already completed and ready to go if he decides to release them..
It would be quite a travesty if he decides not to release some of the stuff...All of that time, energy and God-given talent that went into this music..just to remain locked up. I remember reading an interview by a friend of Stevie Wonder. He said in the interview that Stevie has a contract stating to Motown that upon his departure from this earth...all of his unreleased stuff is to be destroyed...Perhaps LIL MAN got something like this set up for himself as well... I wouldn't be surprised if it's true and neither would I be surprised if it's a load of bollox. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

I doubt that is true.
He probably had 30 albums worth of material, but not assembled albums with artwork, etc. [This message was edited Wed Feb 4 6:22:09 PST 2004 by TonyC]

Now i wonder which albums ?
If it contains : 7 CD sampler (remember?) The Second Comming (his very first idea of a live record) Camille Chrystal Ball (original 2CD set) Dream Factory (3CD set) Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic (1989) Whispers And Echoes (from around 1990) High Roadhouse Garden Welcome 2 The Dawn Madhouse 24 (even twice!) The Flesh Jill Jones (2nd album) Vanity 6 (2nd album) The Time Corporate World The Chocolate Invasion (7 CD's?, but can't count that one realy, that was was after the Celebration thing..) (etc...) now that's already 25 albums that just popped up in my mind..

Well, as well as stevie, our little Prince will never destroy any songs of his. Except for that one song he recorded after he broke up with Susanah.. i read itfrom an engineer of his, Susan Rogers i think. SHe stated that he recorded one ot the most intimate and heartbreaking tracks EVER, and then asked her to push the erase button. she refused, but then i think he did it himself, and like that this song got lost forever... i wonder if he ever recorded it again, orused some kind of melody related to it in another song.
We probably will never know. Don't know, i like this kind of crazy happenings... that's music and Prince to me.. I will always see him sitting there completely heartbroken, in my dreams.. playing the piano or whatever. And i will never believe that stevie wonder was obeyed to do whatever any contractual obligations asked of him andhis music. Now that would be stupid of the record company wouldn't it.

We probably will never know... She was referring to a song called Wally... He did actually mess up the song with different sound effects, before he decided to erase it I feel pretty, that's enough

Nice list, Dorothypark, except the albums with Vanity 6 and Jill Jones supposedly weren't completed.
But Sheila E.'s fourth was! I've never heard about Whispers and Echoes, but Levi Seacer mentioned - I think it was to Guitar Magazine? - in '95 that Prince had made an acoustic album called Heart. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Hey I'm kinda feeling you on that one...I was just curious that's all. To tell you the truth all I want really is some of his greatest live work over the years...including some of those great aftershow performances...That's the stuff that I REALLY want...A lot of those studio outtakes for example, haven't been doing it for me..I have heard a few gems though. It's the numbers of the LP's the other way around. :-O And WHispers and Echoes was indeed a sort of first title idea for D&P, i checked it out as well. Thanx. And indeed Sheila's 4th album was canned as well. But i never heard of the acoustic "Heart" album that Levi Seacer spoke about in an '95 interview.. never found anything about it in the Uptown magazines as well.. got to check that one out again..

It's never been mentioned by Uptown. So the only reference to its existance is the one made by Levi in that interview. But it sounds probable that Heart exists, as Prince was bragging on the Gold Tour that since his last tour, he had completed 7 albums. Another unreleased album is Chaos And Disorder from that selfsame period, '94/'95. Supposedly there's also a Come album from '93. This has never been mentioned in Uptown, either, but certainly Mayte mentioned it in "her" letter to Controversy in '93. (And likewise you've got early, unreleased versions of albums from Purple Rain to Emancipation - and probably beyond - so it all adds up. ) [This message was edited Thu Feb 5 8:34:22 PST 2004 by scififilmnerd] FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!
