prince?!i thought he was dead!! supa bowl partying...ok..so they show the grammy commercial and announce Prince.Some female yelled out"Prince?!I thought he was dead!!"And then everyone said they liked him and that he wasn;'t dead,but just hadn't put out any music in many years.Some,who knew my status ,as a fan,looked at me and smiled.They waited on me to speak up.I was really too drunk or had a moment of laziness from waving the freak flag too much.( I wave it for prince and jimi,et al.,maybe even myself)I just let it go.
normally,i would make her a cdr as soon as i got home to educate her,but ...for her and some like her,i'mma give p the opportunity to educate her and i'm gonna trust him to do what i normally do.i have been fighting this uphill battle for almost all my life and p hasn't been helping me too much.i'm a little tired.i am in need of some "me" time.so,that's what i'm gon' do.i'm just relaxing and taking in all the wonderful music and movies that's available and just enjoy the small things for a while.hell, all the hippies now drive bmw's.the purple politicians are full of it.why am i working so hard while "millions they reap"?screw 'em.they want good music they can seek it out like i do. God forbid!!  Prince isn't dead!! He's just shy, and doesn't like 2 appear in the spotlight 2 much. If U think he's dead, then I think U lost ur "fan faith" in his talent. I haven't seen him 4 a while, either, but I'm always sure he'll appear when nobody is paying attention..or when he knows nobody knew he'll come by 4 a surprise. Think about that. Whether I'm right or wrong. |

rockwilder, this is a fascinating description of what it's often like to be a Prince fan...fighting the uphill battle. I and I'm aure MANY others on this site know exactly what you're talking about. In fact, that's what I was thinking the night of the MTV GettOff buttless yellow lace pants :0 - although I've since come to looove that moment just for its outrageousness alone, at the time I felt like "Well damn, Prince, you ain't makin' it easy for people to think you're NOT gay."
I can NOT wait to see what he does at the Grammys...he really has a chance here...MAJOR exposure. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Being into Prince is like being into Cher on some levels. When people find this out about you, they get quiet and look at you kind of funny.

It's not like their lack of interest is affecting the world order. There are tonnes of musicians that are doubtless close to people's hearts that I have never even heard of.
