I think it's quite interesting what it says:

"Prince - NPG Music Club
Prince chose CalDVD to create a compelling menu system for an exclusive DVD collection produced for members of his online fan club.

Working with assets from the Prince web site, CalDVD produced a compelling intro and a 3D rotating globe that functions as navigation for the DVD. The result is an engaging motion driven menu system that has the energy and excitement of a nightclub and, more importantly, Princes music. Because the menu system was designed to be flexible, it can be reused for future additions to the DVD collection.

Nothing builds anticipation like a well-crafted motion menu system. CalDVD is ideally suited to transform your brand assets into a impressive and rich experience for your audience."

What's interesting is how little excitement this sort of thing generates right here in the heart of the Prince online community...just a couple of years ago and this thread would have 300 posts by now..

But of course it's to a large degree Prince and Da Clubb's fault that they encourage new-age spiritual guru worship boolsheet over love of art.

It's also because of the official announcement of the Grammy show - and the several 'postponed' projects like this over the years. Believe me, though, if this is a new product and The Undertaker (including the Prince: Musical Portrait, btw - see the menu) is released, I will be first in line to buy it.

I've got it on video, hard to get excited about a DVD that would more than likely, end up only looking and sounding like VHS anyway.

Of all the cool extra's he could put on there (different angles, outtakes (there are a shitload of those for this "movie") he puts "Prince: A Musical Portrait" on it... This docu would have fitted better on a "Livesexy '88" DVD release as an easter egg or on a "Nude Tour" DVD...
But anyway this won't get a release anytime soon, cos it was obviously for NPGMC year 1/2...

But isn't that pathetic? Why should we EXPECT everything to be such shitty-ass quality, and still people say "Prince is a perfectionist!!"

He's the sloppiest goddamn perfectionist I'VE ever seen. He's not a perfectionist...he's just a control freak, and lately he can't control it all by himself anymore, and IT SHOWS.

So the NPGMC found out that this company was using their aborted project from 3 years ago in their portfolio, and they but a stop to that with a quickness. The link no longer works.

If those fukkkers devoted 10% of the energy they spend on running around telling people what not to do, and instead spent it on distilling Prince's amazing talent into various releases for his fans to appreciate...well then we just might have a music club!!!

Seriously though...I know everyone's all excited about Musicology and the Grammies and stuff...but is there anyone else out there who feels like, "Why HASN'T this been released 3 years after the fact? Why is nothing ever released? Roadhouse Garden? The 7-disc sampling set? The 7-disc Xenophobia? The 7-disc Chocolate Invasion? The Best of 0(+>? Madrid 2 Chicago? The Dawn? (Heh...remember THAT one?)

I mean...it's one thing to say "Well things change and they don't always work out like we wanted them to..." but HELL, just off the top of my head I just rattled off 7 projects that according to Prince at one time or another would be released in the last 4 years or so...

And they seriously wonder why fans get frustrated...unlike almost any other musician I can think of, they also CHARGE you in ADVANCE. It's not like they put up the songs or the content for the year, and you get to make an informed decision about whether or no you want to join. No, it's MUCH more nebulous than that.

I would rather have The Undertaker DVD than fucking live at the Aladdin..AND ONA Live...hey NPGMC, care to do a trade? Oh wait never mind...I don't trade with people who are on the Bad Traders List.

Nowadays it's about everything but the music.
