PR the movie helped Prince's public profile greatly, but the album was still full of huge hits either way. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

It was all one big ride, each piece needed the other. It was more than an album, movie or tour, it was truly a phenomenon. Any one who was a fan in 1984 and 85 will vouch for that!  | |

Both helped each other, but I think the album helped the movie more than vice versa simply because the movie was very flawed. It would have flopped with lesser music. Without the movie at all I believe the album still would have pushed platinum units. Just how many times platinum? Who knows. This post not for the wimp contingent. Yeah, the album definitely could've worked without the movie. It was just that great. It's still the greatest!!!

The album would have done fine becuase back in the day, prince was the man. Everyone loved Vanity and the Time. The music definitely helped the movie. | |
