What genre of music do you think Prince has pulled off the worst in his career?

I'd have to say hip hop.

Any song where Prince has attempted to rap just sounds embarassing and outdated these days.

I'm not too crazy about his jazz either, but that's just cause the man's simply too funky to be playing something so laid back.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Prince shouls still do hip-hop. His songs with rapping in them would benefit from someone who's good at it.

I would love to see him add an up-and-comer to his shows. Or even work on one of his own albums with someone like Cee-Lo, or Selfish (local Minneapolis hip-hop guy, who's the shizz).
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

new-age "classical" (for lack of a better word) -- Kamasutra

and rap. though i much prefer his rapping than when he has guest-rappers, especially when they're nobody Paisley Park "discoveries" like Scrap D, TC Ellis, and Tony M, etc.

I like Prince's rapping - he sounds like Ice T on helium. It's the whole posturing and talentless guest-rapper stuff that annoyed me.

I'd like to hear him cross Kamasutra with rap though. That would be some amazing stuff.

To give the man credit, it's hard to pull off good hip-hop because it's such a tiresome genre.

Prince can rap(thank God it keeps it short and swwet) it is the rappers he has (either no name, up and coming or a has been.

But you all are right he needs to quit any attempts to rap again.

rappers cannot rip a guitar up, like only P can, so he should leave rappin to the rappers do what he do best.

I think he was worst at reggae. Ripopgodazippa, Blue light, couldn't care less.

HIS RAPPING IS HORRIBLE!!! NUFF SAID. SING AND PLAY THE MUSIC.

MUSIC STARTED GETTING HARDER WITH RAP BUT HE DIDN'T ADAPT WELL. JUST HE NEEDS TO DO WHAT HE DOES BEST MAKE REAL MUSIC.

I totally disagree with you all about his rapping...sure, some of it isn't quite up to scratch, but there are some great moments in some of Prince's raps.

For me, I'd have to say the worst go at a style he's tackled is classical. Kamasutra had some nice moments, but theme and variations does not equal one single motif played throughout different instruments over and over for 8 minutes.

Although some attempts were actually worth listening to, his dabbling in Rap just wasn't cutting it. But I guess taht at the time it seemed like a hip thing to do. Everybody else in the music world wanted to cash in on this rap thing, so Prince followed suit. And now that I look back on it I felt that that was the worst thing Prince could've done. Conform. The results were just not that good.

whenever he does his own style, it's great!
like in "My Name IS Prince"
or like in "All The Ciritcs Love U In New York", "Irresistible Bitch", "Ronnie Talk 2 Russia".. etc.
His style is more like chanting, but i like it in those songs. it works.
He actually created his very own style and very early in his career too.
Whenever Rap and Hip Hop became hot, he thought he neede to follow.. and lost it somehow.

i quite like p's rapping; the only time he raps and i cringe is on 'The Flow' and that's only because of the lyrics. All that "Contradiction, my prediction is that, is it really important where i take my naps?" At least, i think that's what the lyrics are. I damn hope i'm wrong.
