i was at the hair dresses yesterday, and as the hairdresser was cutting away at my hair, we started a cnvo about music and wot im into, i said straight off by sayying "PRINCE", he then told me, he is 1 of hes favourite musicians, which i was really proud of, then he told me he went to the "purple rain tour" and told me all about it.

any way after about 5 minutes of him goign on about tht, he told me he brought this rock and roll magizine today and it had PRINCE in it, which i couldn't wait to see wot they wrote about.

then as he opened the page, in big red writing

" 100 MOST OVER RATED ARTIST'S "

i knew i wasn't going to like this, he was counting the singers down from 100, then he got to about 80, and there he was my idol, PRINCE, i was feeling liek shit, didn't know wot to say,

how can there say PRINCE is over rated, he is 1 of the greatest musicians of our time, i couldn't beleive they were selling this shit to ppl, i couldnt get it out my mind, then as he went down to about 20 JAMES BROWN turned up,. which i think is wrong aswell, BROWNy isn't over rated.

what do u feel about this? are man, in the 100's most over rated artist's

Though i understand why this would piss you off, i'd try to nt let it get to you. Any article that also considers James Brown to be over-rated has absolutely no credibility.

One of the best tactics to get people talking about a publication, and more importantly buying it, is to compile an asinine list. I don't know what magazine you're refering to, but Rolling Stone has done it a lot in the last dozen years or so.

If anything James Brown is underrated when it comes to those that many writers and journalists love to fawn over.

Everybody and nobody is underrated and overrated.

I remember years ago reading some rude comments that jazz musician Wynton Marsalis made about Prince. Man, I wanted to stick that sax so far up his arse!

First, all that article means is that one person (who wrote the article) thinks that Prince is overrated.

Second, being "overrated" doesn't mean someone isn't great..it just means that the media paints the person to be greater than they are.
