Prince has released to the general public 24 studio albums to date.

This figure does not include re-releases (girl6), remixes (rave in2), best of's (hits etc), live releases, NPGMC-only releases (ona etc), maxi-singles (beautiful exp, purple medley etc), and work done under different guises (madhouse, NPG).

If you count all the songs Prince has done that have been officially released to the general public (so that would include the Madhouse and NPG albums, all the songs written for other artists, and would exclude all the NPGMC only stuff, would also exclude "NPG Operator", segues and other filler between songs on various albums), it numbers somewhere in the region of 500 individual songs.

If you take the average number of songs on an average album to be between 10 and 12 then this would amount to somewhere between 42 to 50 albums' worth of music.
