This made me wonder, where would ya be more likely to hear P's music in public nowadays, in a str8 club/bar or a gay one?

I went to a strip club last night and I said to my mate, that all I needed now was for a lady to do a dance to a Prince record. I was having a private dance in the back of the club and Purple Rain came on!

I've often walked by the local (straight) strip joint at night on my way home from a night out on the town and heard Prince music playing from in there. Mostly Kiss and Purple Rain, though. rolleyes
One would think Hot Thing would be a bit more approbiate, right? biggrin

"Purple Rain"?? That sounds weird for a lapdance.

I very rarely visit straight clubs, so I guess I don't have a balanced perspective. But the gay clubs here in Boston love "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry."

Once, the bar across the street from my house (not gay, but queer-friendly) played "Anotherloverholenyohead." Now, this is one of the only songs that's constantly in my top-ten of Prince songs, year in and year out. I cannot express my love for this song. I creamed my catsuit, right then and there.

Well the private area is only seperated by a curtain from the main area. Purple Rain was on in the main stage and so the girls doing the private dance dance to this as well.

And it wasn't a lapdance it was a private striptease. No contact allowed. I've got more class than a nasty lapdance wink

Actually I went to another bar for a lapdance later biggrin

Update: Last night they played Gett Off, Kiss and Genuwines cover of When Doves Cry. Which was nice.

I was at a gay leather bar in LA one time and the DJ played Mountains!!! I freaked out!

That is cool! I've NEVER heard that song at any club! I bet it sounded great nod

I heard 'Mountains' in a disco (club?) in Hamburg back in the 80ies (1988) just right after a concert.
And it was the 12""

Ooh, this is fun! The Gooey translator says;

Prince's gloves in the gay music scene is swearing.
ER (with George Clooney) has a hat that got mugged by Kylie and Madonna, whoms odour ends the "gay music Spielberg scene" who then died in an extra promo something bung In Daf, Zurich, sternly being popular... see Kylie's pretzel "Slow", that wiener by a horny gayclub (untranslatable).
Ably trotting...kiss and when doves cry function in club, nerds that are new sacks Ken (from Barbie, I presume, this being a sort of gay thread) is a kind human and leather dance faking was really a pity. I, magazine.

Yeah, that was a D'OH!-post.

Explain yer Dawn French obsession. Besides her Frodo imitation and The Vicar Of Dibley.

And the fact she is married to a hunky man.

I DJ at quite a few London clubs and often start my set with Kiss. I like to slide COME into the mix too. (Hmmm...)
