One Nite Alone Piano and Voice album

What's the tracklisting to this? Has it got anything we know from the ONA tour? I don't know much about this release at all, in fact...is it any good?

Anxiety

I was listening to this last weekend, and really appreciating it for the first time. Yeah, it's good - it's nice for really quiet nights when you're kinda drifting in and out of reading and want something interesting but not too distracting in the background. Some folks say it's a good companion to "The Truth" cuz ONA's a (mostly) solo piano album and "Truth" is a (sorta mostly) solo acoustic guitar album...works for me I 'spose, though ONA is far more focused musically, at least in my opinion.

The first 4 tracks are nice, the rest of the album is lousy IMO.

Yeah, it's funny how the first four songs are strong and then just like that it becomes quite weak.
That's excluding 'pearls b4 the swine' because my mum loves it! smile

Just heard it - sounds real nice at a first listen...after hearing ONA shows, I only just found out 'A Case of U' was a Joni cover - what's the chances, eh? *L*

young and beautiful is catchy tho, dontcha think?

Anyone got a link to the cover of this CD? (the one on NPGMC is a bit small). Or do I have to design one myself, ...tempting, since the birds nest thing looks rubbish.

He's been doin a Case of you since 81 at least...the way I found out was on the controversy album cover where it says JONI and I was like who? so I dug around and found a case of you, and was like hey he did that song...my first realization that P did covers smile

U can find it for a regular priced cd.. its worth it..

dont pay crazy prices on ebay for it.. u will be let down

Highlight of the cd: One Nite Alone, best cut of the few that are on there..

and if ure lookin for some excellent piano skills, u are lookin in the wrong place.. its just plain chords, a few scales and a tad bit of twang.. nothing trivial

One Nite Alone Piano and Voice album is an excellent CD.
Beautiful piano playing and fiersomely emotional vocals.
I usually have to listen to the whole CD in its entirety, it's that good. But that's me.
Avalanche is a classic for its musical style, message, falsetto singing and emotion. Ure Gonna C Me is a highlight, too, along with the remake of A Case of You.
The only songs from it that I remember were in the tour setlist are Avalanche and a short version of One Nite Alone.
Don't expect Purple Rain or Sign O The Times stuff here. It's piano and vocal mostly.

The album was only officially released as part of the NPGMC last year - and it hasn't been made available through retail yet.

Songs from the album sometimes played on the ONA tour were, as far as I recall, 'One Nite Alone', ''U're Gonna C Me', 'A Case Of U' and 'Avalanche'

Well, it has "Avalanche" on it. Possibly the best thing
to come out of the park since "The Truth", appart from
many a tune on "The Rainbow Children" fcuz.

Thee "One Nite Alone" piano solo cd... is absolutely... interesting, to say the least. If anything, each song is truly it's own story... dependent on what story your mind wishes to enter into when you listen to it. Arboretum, is simply "beautiful"...it has it's own virtue of elegance and one day... will be a kind of song people will be left with a sense of "mystery" as to "WHO WAS AND IS THIS MAN and how can we see him."

The only thing I personally feel to kinda "shout to people is":...he might be somewhere where people can't have a chance to see him perform in the future of now... so there truly is nothing like the "NOW" to remind yourself... be in the now and appreciate the music that is offered to you... "One Nite Alone" piano solo is a cd I highly recommend people seek and find. It isn't in the current ONE NITE ALONE three CD set and came with... the membership during one of the club years, I believe it was 2001.

MayBe they will re-release it... to that end... maybe it will come out... again.

I love this album..it is my favorite since Emancipation, but mainly for those first four tracks. A couple of others are good too, but I can't get into Objects In The Mirror
, Avalanche, or Arboretum.

But I heart LOVE heart the title track, A Case of U, and U're Gonna C Me!!! They are SO sweet and SO moving.

I guess it's sad when an album with 3 or 4 great songs is his best albums in 7 years, but that's the way it is.

If you want a copy, just check ebay every week because they show up there. I think they go for $50 - $75 though. It'd be easier to have someone upload it to the Prince binaries newsgroup.

This album makes me feel all gooey and peaceful...I don't CARE if the second half is cheesorama. wink

I love burning this for people who haven't heard of Prince since Pussy Control. I've gotten some great responses.
