"Controversy" controversy? In the song Controversy the lyrics are
"I can't understand all the things people say, Am i black or white? Am i straight or gay?" Right!!! How come on the hits/b sides "gay" seems to have been taken out of the song so that you can't make it out? This is bugging me!!! Anyone know why?

Anyone know why? i think because he wants to stir some controversy about him. Him dressing like a women (please don't hurt me) the heels, the clothes, the ass-less pants lol, are bound to have some people talking. We all know he isn't gay, but he just wants some people to think, "well maybe?" that's the way i take it? although, i very well know that he is more conservative and super-sexy with the suits. but is it just me, or does prince look like he's getting whiter with every appearance? ohhh man, alot of people are gonna hurt me! i still him :p Sex Kitten

Oh i know, the title reflects the contents. But why the lyrics change?
I mean "head" is just a few songs down and there can be no mistaking what thats about. But i don't see much controversy in the lyrics Am i black or white? Am i straight or gay?" Seems to me that he's just fed up of people trying to define him, put him in a box. Less about sexuality and more expression. So why the apparent censorship?

I never noticed the word "gay" blanked out on "The Hits", but then again, I never paid much attention to that version - unless I'm just cleaning or something and want a generic mix, I opt for the full-length album version.

Well i just have it for the b/sides of course! But yea pop it on and listen closely! Its not too far in, and it sounds like a censored version of a song. Y'know, like when fuck is blanked out but u can just hear the start of the word. Who had creative power for this release? Why would anyone do this? Its dsheartening!
Well i think so! | |
