HouseQuake Exclusive??? Please Explain!

Why has HouseQuake.com claimed exclusive rights to the pics of Prince at the Golden Globes afterparty?

If the photographer was on assignment for the site then cool - but they are from www.wireimage.com which means they've been sold for worldwide press release.

Yet HouseQuake send negative org notes to a fellow Orger asking why they have 'stolen' these pics from the Quake and posted them on here???

C'mon guys...we're all one big Prince family and we're lucky we've got any sites left to post pics at all!!!

End of rant...thanks for listening smile

Maybe they paid for these? You could buy them a bit bigger than the semi-thumbs.

Maybe all they need is a 'sourcereference'.

Um, if you look at the thread at HQ that the site owner started, it is clearly stated that the pictures are from WireImage, and the photographer is also credited. Your reference to HQ getting upset about images being stolen is also wrong - all that was ever asked is that credit was given for the picture source.

I just think that it's stupid that people choose one or the other, and put these sites in competition. Who gives a fuck - why can't we all use both like me n Dansa do as far as I know.

Housequake is also waaay too overly-serious, lighten up. Liking Prince isn't a religion.

Housequake paid for the bigger format of the pictures. Solely the small format ones are available for free and everybody who looked at them knows that they are ... well... shit. smile

I see no reason to condemn Aaron and Housequake for that. On the contrary, we should be thankful that somebody was willing to put the money so we can ALL enjoy the pictures in enjoyable format. Giving due respect is obvious then, I think!

Thanks to Aaron and the entire Housequake group! headbang

I visit both sites also. They don't compete, they complement each other. Though the Org tends to house some farocious (spelled correctly I hope) negativists, while Housequake is much more lightened-up, though not in the meaning you say it Spookymuffin.

Love to all.

I think what Derek is getting at...

...If u looked at that photo for the first time, u would assume that it is a housequake picture (from the logo emblazoned on it). It's not until u visit the site, register to become a member, find the post to then see housequake sourced it from www.wireimage.com, and was the first Prince site to publish the pictures.

from what i can gether, there are 2 seperate issues here, photo copyright (housequakes logo or wireimage's logo on the picture) Vs. exclusivity (housequake publishing the pictures first and being creditied for it)

ps, so I don't get into any trouble here, the picture posted above in this post belongs to Housequake.com (credit disclaimer)

If they are to be found @ Wireimage, that doesn't mean they are sold at all. Wireimage just provides a platform where you are able to buy them for publication, if you want... Housequake.com didn't buy them or has exclusive rights on them at all. They where sent in to us anonymously...

I have never orgnoted someone here about the pics. I did however send a PM @ Housequake to the person that posted them here, simply asking why there wasn't a proper credit to Housequake.com in the post (is that really too much to ask?). A user named Serpan posted them on the NPGMC without giving a proper credit to us, and that just pissed me off.

And i think that is fair to ask, because we ALWAYS do alot of work to get the best Prince pictures all the time. You should know that by now wink

Cheers!

Ps: By adding the text Housequake.com on the pics doesn't mean we have copyright (hence the missing copyright sign) It just shows where it was posted first...

Isn't this sentence a contradiction?? ALL pics on www.wireimage.com are for sale - whether internationally or USA local sales only.

I think it's universally known that if you insert a site name or label on a pic you are claiming copyright on that very image - or at least origin. Going by what you have said you should label the pic 'Posted at Housequake.com First'...even though you say it was posted at NPGMC first?

Look...i love the quake...I have seen some great pics over there. Just when an Org buddy told me about being contacted by you about some pissy little 'We posted the bigger pics first' crap it pissed me off.

Free the music, free Prince pics and free competition between the only TWO decent Prince sites on the net!!!

If I add a copyright (©) sign next to the Housequake text, I would surely claim copyright to the image. A © sign makes a whole lotta difference IMO. I am just trying to show where images can be found.

I already explained that in my previous post.

there's no such thing as "us vs. them" between here and hq--i can testify to this. along with bein a member of the org, i am also a member of the 'quake. i've been on that site for about a year or two, and within all that time i've never seen a shred of "oh, we're so much better than them!"-type mentality over there. there are a lot of kind-hearted souls over at hq. the same can be said for here as well.

"shame on them"? no, more like shame on you for thinkin such a thing. join hq and see for yourself how things really are.
