Funny you should say that cause if I were to ever get that
close to him thats the first thing I would do is
non-chalantly take a whif of him and remember that smell
forever!
He calls me "Holi" cuz he says everyday w/ me is like a Holiday...

I haven't met him per se, but I have had two encounters with him in close range. The first time was in '85 and I was living in Oakland. Sheila E. and her father Pete had just opened their first club, Escovedo's and Pete was very cool to me and used to let me hang out there (eventhough I was a minor.) Sheila was doing a preview performance for the Romance 1600 show. During Holly Rock when she does that slide across the stage, she slid right into me and pierced my ankle with her boot. After the show, as people were mingling, Prince put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Excuse me..." I almost sh*t myself (I was 14). My second "encounter was at the House of Blues ('94 I think). The same scenario. Him passing right in front of me through the crowd. He was rumored to play that night (for $10) so I ran to the phone and called all of my friends and told them to haul ass to the HOB. Prince was definately playing. Then I saw the yellow symbol guitar and decided to make my way to the stage front and center. I must say that in person he is incredibly tiny. He's too much, he even has his underwear custom made. You could see them sticking out of his pants and they had that damn symbol on them all the way around. That's my random memory of being in close range of Prince...

Just curious about this, what kind of boots was she wearing, spurs?, how was your ankle, did she acknowledge you?, apologize?

Yep. One time definitely, and a second time sort-of-but-not-really, though it was amusing.

one of my work connections got me into a kind of "reception line" at some random club he was hanging out at with his band and entourage after his birthday party at glam slam in south beach (1994?). he shook hands with everyone and basically just said hello to each person in the line. it was funny in a way, because it reminded me of the way they have reception lines when you meet the preacher after church services, lol! then the next year (95, I guess?) he was hanging out at glam slam again for another birthday, and he was pretty darned accessible, though we were upstairs in the vip area away from the mass crowd. he was just hanging around like he was a patron- but really looking at the crowd downstairs-i guess kind of taking it all in and monitoring if they were having a good time (cause he was performing later). at one point one of my friends had joined me after getting a drink, and she was complaining about her feet hurting, and lo and behold if he didn't just appear from out of nowhere, tilt his head, & give my friend (who was a really cute south american girl), the absolute cutest POO POO FACE (cause i guess he heard miss thing complaining about her sore tootsies)! then he sort of smiled warmly, and then went on about his business! my little friend actually wasn't even a prince fan, but the moment he did THAT she nearly fell out..."oooh girl i never realized how cute he is! when did he get so cute?!!" she said. i teased her for two weeks about that and threatened to tell her husband she fell in love with a rockstar over a poo poo face at the bar...

I've met P a few times.

He was a cunt then, and I'm sure, a cunt now.

The best thing that could ever happen to you is to never enter into a conversation with him. It blows the illusion.

Watch the Kevin Smith video. That sums up my experience too.

Stay Away!

Listen to the music and enjoy!

I met P in 86, 97, 88, 90, 93, and 98. Nothing exciting. The problem was, I tried to enter into normal conversation, rather than idolisation. That was enough to freeze him up. I actually got into an arguement in 88. He lost, and walked off in a huff.

In 93 we had a good chat (in PP) until I told him about my different views in 88. Then the "Prick" guard came up around him. So he walked off, I turned my back, and took a SOTT gold disc off the wall on the way. Serve the fucker right.

The Disc looks great in my study...

I did not meet him , but a cousin of mine did @ Glam Slam
LA.

She was a Raiderette cheerleader.Glam Slam was hosting a b-day party for Magic Johnson, My cousin was there with other cheerleaders from her squad.while she was dancing a security
guard approached her and said "The owner of the club wants to meet you, do you know who owns this club?" she repiled yes Prince. The guard said to follwing him. they went up to his vip booth. Prince started flirting with her.she told him if i knew she was talking to him, I would die. Prince's response was " don't tell him you were talking to me, I don't want to be responsible for his death"

They exchanged pager #s and Prince called her for a week
everyday
He wanted to take her out to see a movie,(he said he was going to rent out a movie theatre so they would have privacy)

He also wanted her to tryout for a music video

Well she didn't go out with him because she had a boyfriend

to make a long story short He left a LA after a week
and she never heard from him again

I saw the video he wanted her to be in, the girl in the video looks a lot like my cousin.

so you had an argument with him, then when you actually had a good chat with him you brought up the argument again, then you say he was a prick because of it. and then you stole something he worked fucking hard to get, and was a symbol of the success of his grand statement album (one of at least!). sounds like you were being abit more antaganistic than he was. besides, why continually meet someone you think is a prick? to prove yourself right?

i guess you havent told us exactly what you argued about so its fair enough i dont know the whole story so ill try refrain from judging unfairly! shame though, most other people do have nice memories of meeting prince!
