A few years ago I came across a site (2 Nigs something-or-other) that listed references to Prince (and his songs) in The Simpsons. The site has been dead for ages; can anyone list the Simpsons references?

I can remember Milhouse(sp?) saying "so this is what it feels like when doves cry", Moe's (or was it Otto's) shoes saying something from 1999 and the symbol in a list of criminals of the future.

Also, the site said which book of the Bible the inspiration for 319 came from (chapter 3, verse 19 3:19). Can anyone remember which book it was?

There are the characters Martin Prince and Nelson Muntz. There's an episode where Homer has a fantasy about sweets and eats through gingerbread walls and says, "Mmmm... sugar walls."

Rumor has it that there was supposed to be a Simpsons episode where P guest starred in the works. I think I read this on the Dolphonic Experience website. The site said that the script for the episode was written and everything, but P was being difficult (what a surprise ) and
wanted to change some of the dialogue or something . He apparently got pissed off and left in the middle of the recording session. The site also said that Matt wanted P to write some music for the show. He supposedly did, but it couldn't be used because it was too risqué (for FOX, oh come now!!! )

Kent Brockman's TV show " on Springfield" flashed up the Symbol in a list of names captioned "The following celebrities were arrested."

The annoying smart fat kid in Lisa's class is called Martin Prince.

A sign in the Springfield zoo reads "Emu Experience".

After an excessive amount of drugs and/or alcohol in Homerpalooza, Otto's shoes talk to him. "Don't worry, we won't hurt U. We only want 2 have some fun."

After drinking a super squishee, Milhouse says "We're gonna party like it's 1999".

In the "Apu gets married" episode, one of Apu's studly haircuts is the Kid's hairdo from Graffiti Bridge. Later Homer tells Apu, "You've got 7 hours. 7." (See " Want 2 Melt With U")

In a dream in one of the Halloween specials, Homer imagines raspberry & cream donuts walking down a catwalk. "Mmm... raspberry and cream..." thinks Homer.

In the "Mr Burns's Teddy Bear" story, Mr Burns is forced to grovel to the Simpsons. "Simpson, look what U've reduced me 2," says Morris - uh, we mean Mr Burns. He snaps his fingers, and Jerome - we mean Smithers - does the grovelling for him.

The early 80s are referred to as the time when "The artist formerly known as Prince was currently known as Prince." (Yeah, that's how we think of them, too.)

Yep, I had that info on my website years ago...I had written an article for 7 Magazine (Australian Prince fanzine) covering every single Prince reference in the Simpsons and info relating to links between him and the show up until that moment - I think it was back in '96... I've still got the website stashed away somewhere on my backup CDs - if you're still interested I can try and dig it up and post the entire article on the Simpsons and Prince links here...

There's one, fairly recently, where ( for reasons I can't remember), the Simpsons are watching Little Richard on stage, and Homer yells out, "Purple Rain!"... Little Richard says, "Shut up!" ..Homer turns to Marge and excitedly and says, "Michael Jackson told me to shut up!"
