its funny really how wound up people get with prince when he released his last album less than a year ago. i know how they feel cos i dont think i listen to NEWS as much as i would a new album with vox, but i still think NEWS is great.

how many times though does it have to be said something is being released in 2004?! he released something every single fucking year, bar something like 1983!

mad i never said it was 1984 but !!! i mean BUT there is no need to release anything if you cannot put effort into it. N>E>W>S is nothing more than a jammin session tht he had and then decided to release it, I can understand that some people like it and im glad big grin for them but i have many blues session tapes and jaz and N>E>W>S does not come close to these

thank you pray

What is a proper album? Xpectation is every bit the proper album. It's got a tracklisting. It's got liner notes. It's got graphics. It's just on the internet. Big deal. You can still listen to it. Just like the Smashing Pumpkins and Terence Trent D'Arby albums that were released online. And N.E.W.S. has Prince's name on it, right? It can be purchased in stores, right? He plays on it, and you can listen to it, right?

Then what's improper about it?

Nothing in respect to what you said.

However, it wasn't promoted well, recieved pretty much zero reviews (probably because few folk knew it was even available) and not always easy to find in stores. Also, four long and rather dull instrumentals harldy constitutes a "proper" album anyway.

As for Xpectation... ill

COMON

Someting BIG is coming in 2004! Pay now losers cause its going fast.

See the ad on NPGMC site- Pay for it NOW. Maybe receive it in 6 months time maybe not.

But don't forget to write in and tell everyone how AMAZING IT Is. AND TELL ALL YOUR FREINDS.

I say we all get jobs scrapping shit off the sidewlak for a dollar a day. Do this job for six months and save all our wages. Take our savings round to paisley park and post them through the letter box in exchange for a musical pamphlet urging us to become Jehovah Witnesses. THANKS PRINCE RELENTLESS FOR CHANGING OUR LIVES AND BEAT ON ANY 'NAYSAYERS' WE MEET. Funky, huh>?

The good thing about Princes Music is that whatever genre he is playing, and whatever the audience he is playing to, the music is of a Good quality. Some like Rave some like NEWS, he will always have someone to like what he does.

It doesn't matter if it wasn't promoted well, as long as you heard about it and were able to purchase it. As for the content, it's no less a Prince release than Batman, or Rave. All composed, produced and performed by Prince (except where indicated). I don't care for NEWS, either, but that doesn't negate its inclusion in his illustrious discography. Same goes for Xpectation, which some of us prefer to NEWS...

I see your point. But I still don't consider it a "proper" album. We'll agree to disagree. wink

Xpectation is every bit the proper album.

To most people a proper album means a cd that can be purchased - downloads do not make a proper album since they are only available if you have a computer. Plus if you didn't belong to the club it was unavailable.

It's got a tracklisting.

It's got liner notes.

Where can these be found? I have never seen any.

It's got graphics. It's just on the internet. Big deal. You can still listen to it.

Then what's improper about it?

Try taking it to a used cd store & see how much they will give you for it. A proper cd would have resale value. An improper cd is a homemade job with little or no value.
