I say this isn't newsworthy primarily because it's in the tradition of silly, erradic Prince behaviour that he's exhibited for decades now. Secondly, Prince hasn't had a commercial hit in a decade.

Ben Affleck and J Lo. taking a dump isn't newsworthy, either, but we have to hear about it on a daily basis...

J Lo and Ben Affleck have been a lot more relevant to the public than Prince has in the last decade. Therefore as uninteresting as they really are, the mainstream still seems to care about the gossip surrounding them. Last Prince blurb that caught any real media attention was some Saturday morning door knocking he did with Larry. That gossip is so good it must be fattening rolleyes

See this type of shit is ignorant. You think this information is worthy enough to submit to a "contact" that is willing to publish it for you just because you still got a sour taste in your mouth from his lawsuit against you? And before anyone starts that "upholding the purple nuts/fam" argument, save it.

I say this isn't newsworthy primarily because it's in the tradition of silly, erradic Prince behaviour that he's exhibited for decades now. Secondly, Prince hasn't had a commercial hit in a decade. So the only people who really gives a damn about this information are the same Prince fans that complain about every dumb business decision the man makes. And if Prince has continued to alienate his fans since Purple Rain, then there's really no point in giving the story to MTV ... unless it's to appease the "abused" Prince fans who are going to come back for another "beating" rolleyes.

If Prince is such a has-been who the world doesn't give a damn about anymore, what benefit does anyone receive from MTV running a "nasty exclusive" about him? In the end all you're doing is encouraging the publicity he desires.

See, this is why I challenge all orgers to quit frontin' in 2004. See here. Because with the same hands that you type all of the ill will of Prince and his wrong doings, the same hands contribute to threads about who has the largest Prince CD collection (Japanese imports and all) and who has the greatest looking Prince posters.

psychosoul...i guess i'm just not clear what your point really is.
Are you saying that when Prince does something that affects many of us...like attempting to shut down sites that discuss his official and non official music...are you implying that we should not discuss it? It should not be talked about? Well why not? And when you say something along the lines of '...its not really worthy of discussion becuase he's been doing things like this for years...'? (not an exact quote...but the essence of what you said)...Well i really don't think that the fact that its happened recurringly is ANY reason NOT to discuss things such as this...in fact i think just the opposite. The fact that this type of thing (sueing and shutting down fansites) continues to occur and EXPAND in its accusations is exactly why it SHOULD be discussed... perhaps morso than ever.

And the statement you make about 'the same hands typing these 'criticisms' of Prince's decisions are the hands of folks who have the biggest Prince collections'....again I'm not sure what your point is here? Are you implying that because one enjoys and supports much of the work of an artist, that one should not in the next breath speak ill of something that same artist does or disagree with something the artist is involved with? Is that what you're implying? I sure hope not becuase that just doesn't sound too logical to me.

so look, i couldn't care less what religion Prince is, what toilet paper he uses or who he's shaking up with. Some folks want to know about all of that...thats cool...more power to them. I don't...so i usually just skip right over those posts. No problem, no beef.

I DO care about the music though. And much of my most favorite Prince music happens to regularly be found on the unreleased stuff. So by stepping up his lawsuits and attempting to shut down sites that even only discuss the details of those unreleased gems...that does affect me. That IS newsworthy to me. I don't know or care whether its newsworthy to anyone else. Evidently MTV News felt that it was newsworthy. They're allegedly a music & music news organization, so I'm guessing they know better than i who their audience is...i'm sure they regularly get togeter and determine which stories to run with, and apparently they felt this one was indeed newsworthy to their viewers.

So I don't understand whats the issue you have with that?

Why does that bother you that some people think that it is newsworthy even if you feel it is not? You have the right to feel that way, but I do not understand the beef you have with folks that feel otherwise?
