G2P.org story on MTV News

Looks like my contact over at MTV News agreed to post some more negative news about the artist who shops at the boys department of Nordstroms.

http://www.mtv.com/news/a...oubt.jhtml

Prince has had his lawyers shut down yet another fan site on the Internet. What distinguishes this shut-down, however, is that instead of posting bootlegs, Guide2Prince.org's focus was only to discuss and review them. Guide2Prince.org will cease operations at the end of the month, according to a post on the site, while the domain name will be available on eBay starting January 25. The site's operator said that his personal Prince collection would be auctioned off on eBay as well.

well, i replied to her with this. so hopefully it'll get to the point where they run a nasty exclusive on his actions.

yeah, all news is good news... but when it comes to doing shit like this, it's only going to hurt him... hopefully at some point he'll come to his senses and stop being lame and go back to actually making music.

Or of course he may just think , fuck it, and not bother recording anymore. Dont get me wrong, I have given some tounge lashings on NPGMC, I dont agree with a lot of what Prince does now. There have been many a time I thought I may get banned etc. but I always stood my ground. But when all said and done, do I want him to still record ??

The answer is yep everytime.

See this type of shit is ignorant. You think this information is worthy enough to submit to a "contact" that is willing to publish it for you just because you still got a sour taste in your mouth from his lawsuit against you? And before anyone starts that "upholding the purple nuts/fam" argument, save it.

I say this isn't newsworthy primarily because it's in the tradition of silly, erradic Prince behaviour that he's exhibited for decades now. Secondly, Prince hasn't had a commercial hit in a decade. So the only people who really gives a damn about this information are the same Prince fans that complain about every dumb business decision the man makes. And if Prince has continued to alienate his fans since Purple Rain, then there's really no point in giving the story to MTV ... unless it's to appease the "abused" Prince fans who are going to come back for another "beating" rolleyes.

If Prince is such a has-been who the world doesn't give a damn about anymore, what benefit does anyone receive from MTV running a "nasty exclusive" about him? In the end all you're doing is encouraging the publicity he desires.

See, this is why I challenge all orgers to quit frontin' in 2004. See here. Because with the same hands that you type all of the ill will of Prince and his wrong doings, the same hands contribute to threads about who has the largest Prince CD collection (Japanese imports and all) and who has the greatest looking Prince posters.

it has nothing to do about fronting. it's about making a statement.

prince needs to focus on making music. if he does, he'll be supported.

japanese cds? haven't bought one for 4 years. posters? prince doesn't make money on those. not a dime. they're promotional posters, in case you missed that.

bootlegs? haven't bought one since 1998. haven't downloaded anything unreleased for 2 years.

i support prince when he makes good decisions and releases music. the fact that he hasn't done much of either lately... well, does that give me the right to criticize him then? not according to you... and that's fine.

and lastly, for the umpteenth time, the lawsuit didn't hurt me at all. all it did was create great publicity for my website. changes to my website? none, other than i don't turn people onto prince anymore with never to be released music 100 times better than what he's released over the last 15 years... it's not like i'm having to change my website (like uptown) or close my website (like g2p.org or smallclub.org)

Exactly.

Who is anybody here to tell Prince what he needs to do?
How does anybody know what he's doing anyway?
Chances are , he still records daily.

It's not about the lawsuit hurting you. I just really see no reason for you to even bring this to MTV's attention. Like you say, you want Prince to be more productive in the studio. Hell, I would too. But don't act like Prince has just sat on his ass in 2003. That's why I don't believe what you're doing is for the sake of more music. Because bringing shit like this to MTV's attention is not helping the cause...it's just going to encourage him to surf the web and see who else is "testing" him. Let's be honest, the only statement that you're trying to make is one of vengeance. Purple Rain Anniversary or not, MTV, nor it's core audience gives a damn about Prince in 2004. So who is it exactly you're trying to stick up for or protect? Fellow Prince fans who should know by now to expect this behavior and to take it with a grain of salt? What is the statement you're trying to make? Please Matthew, let's keep it real.

Whether you still buy Japanese cds or posters is irrelevant. Look at your profile. You sir, are bragging. You've got a humongous Prince collection which meticulously shows each jewel case wrapped in a protective cellophane. So regardless of who Prince sues next, you know you're going to buy the next thing he farts on so why act like you are on some major crusade for justice.

Please. Quit frontin'.

no, it's shows my support. all i had after this lawsuit is people saying how i'm not a admirer of prince's music. how i don't respect him as an artist, so i took and posted the photo to show them otherwise.

it's funny though - your take on it.

I don't mean bragging in the sense of "Look what I got and look what you don't have" I mean bragging in the sense of pride. It's very apparent that you are still an admirer of Prince's music. Which is why I think it's pointless to get this shit on MTV. If you would clarify the "statement" you're trying to make, then maybe I would have a better understanding.

so what you're saying i have good self esteem?

i guess i just don't get it. first i'm attacked by fans and sued by prince for not being a fan by sharing never to be released music to turn people onto prince.

then i'm accused of being stuck on myself by proving that i do support prince by having a single photograph of my prince cd collection, which is dwarfed (no pun intended) now by my dvd collection.

i had more to say, but i realize i'm wasting my time doing so. there's no point in explaining my intentions to those who don't get it by now.

Matthew stop ackin..its simply that whe the oppurtunity comes up you cant seem to help yourself from stating "when I got sued...my dvd collection...yadda yadda yadda" with th e QUICKNESS. I mean posting about your cats made me thing "whew! there is another side to this guy then seemingly veiled self-promotion" etc. And dont even try the "but Im just showing to prove...its a healthy self esteem" shit because ..IT..AINT ..THAT and you know it lol.

I get it. Others get it. Hang in there.

I'm glad too that the National media picked up on Prince's newest career mistake. We can love the music, and keep collecting and discussing the music, while at the same time, be saddened by his personal downward spiral.

This just In! Prince career ova due to fan faction blurb

Prince has seemingly had his career sent to oblivion and will not be inducted into th e hall of fam in his first shot.

He will not have re-releaseing of some of his past movies released on dvd even though he has no onvolvement.

His band ha snow left him and he is without any electricity to fuel his instruments for recording. It was also written that he had made a career mistake and was on a downward spiral

The cause?
It seems an MTV news blurb stating the impudent complaints of fans who were upset that he had a website that discussed..only discussed..bootlegs, shut down to protect his artistic property. Some fans took it as a once again strike against those who would not admit that they drank purple kool-aid in their fandom of wanting to have every performance released or at least written about in a forum all the while bitching and moaning about him and not seeing how they come off as screw loosers. But the biggest hit to Prince because of this blurb and future formal public complaint by those whith a lot of time on their hands is...Prince can no longer play piano or guitar.

It was also written that he had made a career mistake and was on a downward spiral

Prince could not be reached for comment on this because he has no career left and couldn't even get arrested these days.

Film at 11.
